nobody is going to admit they flop. if you asked harden the same thing he would say he's not a flopper. dirty players won't admit they are dirty. tebow won't admit he can't throw, etc, etc
"I only flopped once. I was recovering from an elbow injury. So If what I did was an error in judgment on my part, I apologize. And I accept full responsibility for those two days." That's how you do it.
There's something wrong when an NBA head coach gets fined 7 times the amount the entire Thunder combined got fined for flopping over 15 times in 6 games just for saying that a player flopped. You can't really compare the two in that category. Harden does some acting occasionally but doesn't usually flop outright unless we're abusing that term. That said I'm not going to blame Lebron for the incident against the Bulls. I'm not entirely convinced that he flopped (I could see it going either way). To say he doesn't flop quite often though is obviously not true. I'm not mad at him though. Most top scorers (unfortunately) flop on a regular basis and I imagine that most of them wouldn't admit it in an interview. I'm more mad at the NBA that they allow flopping. I know they technically have a system for this but I don't think it's enforced strongly at all so it doesn't really stop players from flopping.
Yeah if he said something like "I'm not a flopper" I might have been ok with that. Distinction between flopping and being one of the guys that consistently flops. But saying he doesn't flop at all? Crazy talk.
To his defense, none of those in the video were flops. He was simply getting out of the way because he didn't want to hurt the other dude out of his mercy.
I wish the nba just took away the circle and take out charges. Make the players have to go for the block, unless it's blatantly where a player is standing there for a while and the driver is just out of control. Stop awarding when someone falls over. NBA will be on the soccer level of flopping with the way it's heading. It's sad when women's basketball allows more physical play than the NBA
This. Everytime James steps back, pump fakes and then jacks up a contested three and acts like he got murdered... I can't stand people who play basketball like that. Those are not basketball plays. Of course I don't criticize him when he goes in the paint and sticks his arms out and baits people to reach. That's not a flop, that's just smart basketball.
If the NBA would hire refs that didn't call fouls for flopping, maybe it would go away. The fault for the existence of flopping lies squarely on the shoulders of the NBA and its refs. How hard is it to not call fouls when there's a flop? I mean, they stop the game for 10 minutes all the time to review possession, yet they can't have a conference to catch a flop? It's hard to blame a player for doing it.
Agreed. I hate flopping. I actually don't mind floppers; I'm a big fan of a lot of them (Scola, Ginobili, Varejao, Lowry). Some have told me that's a contradiction. I just consider it appropriate placing of the blame for the flopping problem.
I do not mind flopping, you have to do whatever it takes to win, but for him to say that is childish. He should of just smiled and laughed it off. Some of his flops are funny, not as obscene as the double flop the Thunder did against Asik.
Harden never said, "I don't flop". Lebron could answered in a lot of different ways. Such as, "I didn't receive any warnings or fines this season, so I will let that speak for itself." Instead he went with the outright declaration that he doesn't flop because he isn't that kind of person. Now if Harden came out and said "I don't flop", then yes that would be even more rediculous than this.
Don't understand why the league doesn't have someone study these tapes and send hard fines (25k) for each offense. I promise you flopping will stop after that. Derek Fisher will probably be broke though.
Until that's enforced, everyone will flop once in a while to win. Some a lot more than others because they know which official to play. That's competition... Just like PED or other gimmicks. Fans almost expect or ignore it for their teams.
Almost every player flops at least once in a while. The outrage about LeBron's statement is that he clearly flops quite a bit and he had the gall to come out and say, "I don't flop" with a straight face. It's like hearing Bernie Madoff say, "I don't cheat."
