The sad thing is that this is NOT uncommon in television. In almost 20yrs in the industry, I've seen lots of stations/networks do this firsthand, from Fox Sports to local Boston networks. Its only in the last 10yrs that the average viewers are catching on to the editing and production tricks that have always been in place. The reason? The internet, youtube, DVR's etc make it easier to rewatch and inspect what was aired. Scrutiny of (American) media was almost nonexistent when I started in TV, but nowadays what used to be a minor unnoticed mistake now makes the front page of reddit, yahoo news, facebook and twitter.
same old, same old... I saw MTV do this in 1999 with interview coverage from their "east" studio and "west" studio, aka the same building. TexasStake, aka TOYCEN428 has uncovered the truth and exposed the mass media once again!
Glad to see Ashleigh Banfield making the long road back a la Norville or Musberger. I don't know how to get angry about satellite equipment.
