I opened this pathetic Mobley bashing thread for old times sakes, and it never changes. The guy dishes out 7 assists and people want to trade him? Trade him for a better fit? Yeah it's easy to find a "better fit" making 6 million dollars a year, scoring 17 to 20 ppg, and who wants to be here and not be the star of the team. They're easy to find. People can't even enjoy a huge win without wanting to trade somebody.
I guarantee there are players out there who want to play for Houston and NOT be the star IF houston proves to be a major contender which they are starting to do. If Mobley starts to show some maturity on court (like he did last night) on a consistent basis, then, yeah, I would agree with all of you in believing he is a good fit, but one game isn't going to change my opinion.
dunt worry abut timing stuff, guys would get a lot of opportunties to bash Mobley, since Mobley's bad games are way more than his good games..... One thing u guys didn't realize is, no team in NBA wants Mobley, his trade value is very LOW, people know what his game is about.... only thing fans can do now is to pray for him to play better....
Here are the ranking from sportsline. er.. yeah.. According to NBA.com Mobley isn't even top 25 anything except for free throw percentage. (which is a good thing about him) but probably the only good thing. when your point guard scores more than your shooting guard you have a problem.
I say we wait and see if Cat can continue to play well and develope some good chemistry between him & Yao. There's definitely some resentment from Cat to Yao and nobody knows why. It looks like Cat is starting to realize his role on the team and playing better lately. If he learned, he's going to be valuable to Rox and he's gonna to stay. If not, we have to get some one else who will make better decision.
What are u talking about. Magic Johnson scored more then the SG I.Thomas score more then Dumars G.Paython scored more then SG J. Kidd scores more then Kittles Heck J. Stockdon scores more then Calbert Chayney ( Utah's shooting guard)
HMMMMMMM....that would be stupid. THE ONLY PLAYERS I WOULD TRADE ONE FOR ONE... Cuttino Mobley for... Kobe Bryant Tracy McGrady Allen Iverson Paul Pierce Jalen Rose Michael Finley Ray Allen Allan Houston... and that's it or for two other players. Mobley has been doing great. He had 7 assists. But that was because they denied Francis the ball. He has been shooting at least 50% and does not take too many shots. But he is not a point guard. He is a shooting guard. His main objective is to score. There were many times when Yao or some other guy was WIDE OPEN and he either did not see them or looked but decided to not pass. He still has that ballhog mindset. But we can't get rid of him. He is still our only shooter...besides Rice. But Rice might get injured or lose his touch...he didn't make anything in the 2nd half. And we still need his defense and iso stuff. I don't think the Rockets would get rid of him. I believe out of... Player Rating GP MPG PPG RPG APG FG % FT % 1. And you know this how? Because of a comment he made before the draft, when he hadn't even met Yao yet?
Point well taken, but what did those point guards do as far as distributing the ball and making others better in comparison to Francis? and they created their own shots because of they made their teammates better, but Francis rarely does that. Would you say that Francis is more of a point or 2 guard? If you ask Francis I'm sure he would say 2 guard. He wants to be AI. I respect that.
man, what the hell have you been smoking? mobley's stock isn't anywhere near any of those players. I would trade mobley for pippen. lol. and what about sprewell. he's better than mobley. it's just a little over the top to say that you wouldnt give mobley up for anyone but a superstar. sheesh. i would give francis up for almost any of those players.
Huh? Where is it said that your shooting guard must score more than your pg? And why can't players change and fit into the system? I think Mobley and Francis are beginning to do that. Going by your reasoning, we wouldn't have Cato this season and we never would've seen his good play this season. Even you must notice the improvement and what he brings to this team. But anyways, Mobley CAN fit in and has shown that he can.. just hasn't shown whether he can keep it. This is the first season with Yao, and it's been a few seasons since they had Hakeem. It's easy to go from not taking a whole lot of shots to taking a lot of shots and scoring a bunch of points and being pretty much the main offensive weapon. It's harder to stop shooting so much and relegate yourself to playing a supporting role. GIVE IT TIME. He's changing, and it hasn't been just one game, he's shown it sporadically through the season and is becoming more consistent. Back to the pg vs sg thing. WHY is it sad?? I don't understand. Are you saying we need to get a sg that scores MORE than Francis? Then that defeats the whole purpose of replacing Mobley to most ppl anyways. You're probly saying that Francis should be the sg instead of the pg, that's fine. But that doesn't hinge on trading Mobley. And Mobley IS a better defender than Steve, that's just a given now. The positions these days are not clearly defined, any position could be the main scoring position. SG DOES NOT HAVE TO SCORE MORE THAN THE PG.
So far, all we know Proteus wants to do is trade Mobley away. he says "for a PG", but he hasn't named one. And if SGs that produce as much as Mobley are hard to find... wait till he tries t find a PG that produces as much... after all, we are paying how much for our current backup PG???
I said I would give it time about 5 posts ago and traditionally the point guard should be more about the assists than scoring and traditionally a shooting guard should score more than the point guard, seeing as he is the "shooting" guard. You're right, points can come from any position depending on the matchups but I don't want my pg trying to score by himself all the time. What happens when your point guard is your main scorer and he doesnt know how to get others involved? The Rockets without Francis last year... or even this year. Why do you think Larry Brown moved Iverson to shooting guard?
Because I don't have to name one. You name one and it would be a good trade and shooting guards that produce as much as Mobley aren't hard to find, besides I said Francis should move to shooting guard and he would produce much more than Mobley ever could. Darrell Armstrong, Kenny Anderson, Jason Terry, Derek Anderson, Earl Boykins, Terrell Brandon, Nick Van Exel, Sam Cassell, Mateen Cleaves, Jacques Vaughn, Tony Parker, Howard Eisley, Anfernee Hardaway, Mark(c) Jackson, Dajuan Wagner, Avery Johnson, Brevin Knight, Tyronn Lue, Andre Miller, Gary Payton, Erick Strickland .... any of those will do.
Are you stupid? Avery Johnson? Brevin Knight? Golly.... Do you know how much Mobley makes compared to Gary Payton? KENNY ANDERSON!?!?!? God.....I woudn't trade Jason Collier for him.
Why because they don't SCORE as much as Francis does at point? Once again a point guard can score more than the shooting but it's better to have a pg that can distribute the ball especially when you have Francis, Yao, Rice, etc.
All of those players would make better decisions than Mobley on the court and this would free up Francis to take better shots and Yao would see the ball more. Besides this was a reply to the person that said it's hard to find a replacement pg. We don't need a great one. Just a functional one. It's pretty stupid to pass up Kenny Anderson for Jason Collier.
why thank you thank you very much. Words became too difficult for you so you decided to use pictures?
