Well obviously Howard's the big fish and you'd expect him to go first or at the same time with agreement from Smith as well. I'd rather send assets to Atlanta in the East than LA.

Im almost positive that because of Garcia's true team option contract, he cannot be signed and traded.

I would rather we sign Dwight outright and then package Lin and Asik for a upgrade at PF or PG.

Why Lin & Asik wont be traded to LA for Dwight

    1) Because Dwight is the goal and we can secure him first without giving up any assets

    2) We can S&T for Smith by only giving up Asik and one of our PFs.

    3) Rather send assets to the East than to LA in the West when given the choice.

    4) The possibility of Lin doing PNRs with Dwight, and Asik forming the twin towers is very enticing.

    5) Lin & Asik both have great potential so why give them to LA for nothing

    6) We want to keep Lin as a cash cow.

    7) Morey and Les wont let Lin and Asik unless absolutely necessary.

    8) It would annoy the c*** out of LOHs.

We don't need an upgrade at PG.

We need an upgrade at PF.

Asik's trade value is currently much higher than Lin. More likely we can get a higher value return for Asik.

He didn't say we needed an upgrade at PG. only that we'd trade Lin for an upgrade (see: Paul, Chris).

Sorry, I forgot about CP3. Is Dwight and CP3 to Houston still on the cards?

How can that be possible? I thought only Atlanta had the cap space to sign them both?

Asik + Lin would work for CP3's salary.

Teams over the tax threshold cannot accept a player in a sign and trade.

I figured the implication was to exercise Garcia's option, though I have no idea why we'd do that.

And why the Lakers would want him for $6M plus a ton of tax.

Ok, I get it. Instead of trading for Smith.

    So line-ups could be...

    Paul
    Harden
    Parsons
    T-Jones
    Howard

    OR

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Smith
    Howard

    OR

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Howard
    Asik

Rockets are lucky to have so many good options!!!

You keep Lin and Asik for another season and use their contracts as expiring deals to snag another player who can help you. A team like the Heat who will need to move one of the big 3 after 2013-14 seasons to avoid luxury tax threshold. Probably Bosh...but they could let Wade go. Used the Heat as an example...don't think either player is an option for Houston.

I think they're saying that if CP3 decides to leave, it'll help us move money and help them get something back. They wouldn't want Lin though. If they are losing CP3, they are going to sign Bledsoe for whatever he wants and let him start.
