of course he's better than james. a lotta rockets fans are blinded by their hate for tmac and forgot about what he's done in houston.

something that never gets mentioned - tmac ALWAYS stepped up in the playoffs. u can see in his playoffs averages. yao did good in the playoffs but couldnt take his game to the next level

tmac's defense CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED! first off, everyone forgot what he did to dirk in the 05 playoffs. and before that, when his body wasnt infested with injuries, he was still an elite defender. in toronto he avg 2bpg. but when he went to houston he kept getting injured, and its much harder to play great defense than offense when ur not 100%. plus, u dont want your best player guarding the other teams best perimeter player all the time. ur just asking for him to get injured

james only has a few reliable moves. tmac could score from anywhere. sure he was lazy, chould've put more time in the offseason but he was one helluva player. tmac and yao was the closest thing to kobe and shaq. how often do two of the best players on a team become injury prone after their first year? and front office needed to bring in more help. shane wasnt enough. its suck, but w/e, im glad that era's over. some good memories, some bad lol

T-Mac at his best, in Orlando, blows Harden out of the water. T-Mac at his best is one of the greatest players of all time.

But Harden is better than any season that T-Mac put up in Houston.

Man Tmac was unbelievable in his prime. Arguably the best player in the NBA. Can't say that about Harden yet. He was also a good defender and creator. His career should have been way better than it was. That league robbed us in that Dallas series. We should have gone to the finals that year.

McGrady was more skilled. He could get to the rack at will when he wanted to and could rise up and hit a j from anywhere. However, he stopped going to the rack and got brutally inefficient. Harden doesn't have the explosiveness that Mac had, nor does he have his natural skills, but he is significantly more efficient.

Tmac at his best is unparallel. He has way more talents than Harden. Harden's done a good job in his first year as a starter, but he still needs experiences, especially at clutch times. He'll never achieve Tmac's best only with talents. He needs to learn play smart

Tmac by far the better player but Harden is not fully developed yet!

T-Mac in his prime was a top 3 player, he had more athleticism and could just dominate almost anyone from a physical standpoint. Harden is young, he's got the potential to surpass T-Mac, for most of us that would be making it out of the first round :)

Well you might want to get a sledge hammer to knock on that wood because the way Harden plays the game. He his bound to get injured. **** he played damn near the entire season injured pimpn.

Mean poll meant to embarrass and reveal newbies who weren't following Rockets basketball during the T-Mac years.

Even though I'm thankful for having Harden, I would choose Tmac. He would never would have had a 10 turnover game. Gotta remember Tmac had his best was efficient, just not with the type of free throw and 3 pt combo Harden has.

TMac was being compared to an in-his-prime Kobe and some were even taking TMac during that period. Harden is being compared to an over-the-hill Kobe.

IMO Replace Harden with McGrady at his peak on this current Rockets team, and we beat the Westbrook-less OKC and maybe even get past the second round. Never mind all that talk about how T-Mac whithered in the playoffs.

Tmac in his prime was one of the most talented nba players ever. But I would rather Harden this year in a playoff series than Tmac. He's more built for the pressure.

Harden is awesome but T-Mac at his best was amazing!

Current players I can only think off as Durant/LeBron being better than T-Mac at his best.

Right now, it's not even close.. A prime T-Mac is pretty much equivalent to a modern day Lebron James, statistically speaking. His best season he averaged 32 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assist, a block, a steal with a PER over 30! He is one of the only players to ever accomplish that along with names such as Jordan, Lebron and Wade. Add to that he was 23 during that season and Tracy's career looked like it was going to reach and maybe even surpass the greatest of the greats. On the court he was a mixture of Durant's scoring ability, Lebron's playmaking, with his own unique blend of speed, athleticism, and length. There was no way to stop him if he decided to take over a game, truly unstoppable. Anyone can see that if you look up videos of McGrady's game. He was truly special.
But injuries destroyed so much of T-Mac and so quickly too. It was so sad to see him fall everytime with the hope that he could maybe get back to form with every surgery and rehab he underwent.
With Harden, it's far too early to tell but you could rightly say that if he can continue his growth and maintain his health, he will be the greatest wingman SG to ever play for the Rockets and possibly a top 10 SG of all time. Look what he accomplished in his first season alone. But I don't think he will ever be the quality of player T-Mac was, in terms of talent, uniqueness, and skill. And it's honestly not fair to compare these two players because they are really so different and there situations with their teams were different too. T-Mac's teams in Orlando and his first season with the Rockets sucked with players playing major minutes past their primes. He had to carry them more so than Harden did this season with the Rockets.
