Great article. Makes some good points Damn the Big 12...... http://www.sportingnews.com/cbasketball/insider//voices/mike_decourcy/20030316.html
SEC west. Auburn deserved it more than Tech, but neither should be in I believe. The only reason Alabama got in and Tech didn't was the non-conference wins. Bama's non conference schedule was no. 3 in the nation this year. That loss to Baylor mirrored Bama's loss to Vandy (well both losses to Vandy), and obviously didn't matter. Strange strange comittee I must say, especially putting Kentucky and Arizona in the same side.
Tech got robbed. They beat a #1 seed just a few days ago and forced OT with OU. They are clearly a top 64 team in the country. They got robbed but they really have nobody to blame but themselves losing to baylor atm k-state is unexcuseable if you really have tournament hopes. Now that tech is in the NIT they might as well win the thing. Go Tech
Boston College deserved it more than both. You don't go 6-10 in conference and b**** about not being taken. Even the idiot coach doesn't think they belong.
The selection committee really pushed the point home that if you have a bad OOC schedule, then it will hurt you. Tech didn't play any decent teams out of conference. And 8-11 in conference isn't going to cut it. And, Auburn doesn't deserve the bid over BC.
TT got robbed... I agree...I was so PO'd when I say bama and Auburn who didn't have the schedule, conference, etc... And the explanation that was given was weak...
mrmooch. hey now we may be bad here at vandy. but we're no baylor.. at least we beat bama twice and georgia
rr... bama had a 21st ranked schedule.. and the sec is a little weaker maybe but its not THAT much weaker than big 12..
Still bitter that we beat your ass in the Big 12 tourney? I dont think you can call any coach with as many wins as Knight an "idiot".
Hey I didn'y know there were any Vandy fans here. Uuuuhh, (looking for a way to get out of this conversation) at least Nashville is better than T-town. Yeah, there you go. Now I just hope this won't haunt the Tide when they play the Commodores when it reall matters -- football.
Not at all. The #1 seed in the NCAA tourney helps forget a meaningless loss. OK, how about ass, then?
BC deserved it, of course. We won 9 out of our last 11 games. That should count for something. Bias aside, I think BC, Tech, or SH would have been fair choices in place of Auburn. Auburn had a terrible pre-conference schedule, and didn't fare that well in the SEC either. IMO, what happened was a reward to the SEC more than Auburn... something the committee supposedly eschews. At least UT is a #1.
mr mooch...... hehe.. not to worry.. I know we are awful. I'm a vandy student from Houston.. so I had never seen a whole vandy game in my life before this year. lets just say im not here for the athletics... im trying to make myself a fan but it is awfully hard!.. the more i look at their history. the more it looks imposible for them to win.. that being said they were top 45 rpi at one point and had a top 15 schedule.. they gave up in a lot of games i think. maybe time for a coaching change.... as for football .. im hoping for ONE sec win while im here
