If Dwight comes, keep or trade Asik?

  1. Keep Asik. Make the twin towers.

If asik can net us a good 4 than yes. If not keep him. Eventually someone will need a good center

I know Parsons is making $800K right now, I forgot we still have him for 2014/15 on that contract. That's good, we don't have to worry about cap problems for awhile.

With Asik and Howard we can match up really nicely against teams like the Clippers, big front court with no jump shot.

I never thought of that. The West has lots of teams with big front courts so we need a solid front court to compete. Good point.

If Asik and Greg Smith can play together than Omer and Howard can play even better together. And it's really simple. Omer and Asik start the first 8 minutes together and then Asik gets a breather for 4 minutes and then Howard moves to center while Asik rests and then 4 minutes later Asik comes in and Howard rests and then 6 minutes later Howard comes in and they play twin towers again and then 2 minutes later Asik rests and Howard plays center. Rinse and repeat in the second half.

You can actually mix in Greg Smith or this guy Aldemir in for a couple of minutes and what you do is get them about 32 minutes a game which should keep them rested and you are only playing twin towers for 20 minutes a game. The other 28 is small ball or stretch 4.

This will even work better if Asik can develop a 10-12 footer from the key. I think he can. But it might take a lot of the season for him to feel really confident. Also when only one of the twin towers is on the court we really need shooters at every position and a stretch 4 is almost imperative. That could be DMo or even Parsons if he beefs up a little like he says he will. If we do those things I think Howard and Asik will work very well and maybe great together. And if it doesn't work out Asik can be traded for that stretch 4 we are looking for.

Is Omer Asik a transformer? Guess that explains why he's so huge, dude consists of two lesser bots that transformed into mighty Omer Asik.

Nice call, Horford always wants to play PF that works perfectly for them. However, I think I heard something like the new CBA doesn't allow sign and trade or something?

OMG, our interior D would be the best in the league with Dwight and Josh blocking shots!

I believe this is the Morey Plan, definitely the Alexander Rule.

I'm old school. Twin towers please!! The idea of 2 big man bruising teams down low excites me. What team in their right mind would drive consistently against us. Asik anchored that interior defense alone. Think of what he could do with Dwight during certain stretches. We'd have speed and size to match any team.

Only part I'm afraid of is how much Dwight would demand the ball. He just isn't a good post player in my opinion. I cringe when I see him try to make a move. He's not even a good passer out of the post either.

    Trade him.

Dwight plus Asik on the floor would a) be horrible for free throw shooting, and b) would destroy our offense. Neither has any range whatsoever, so teams would clog the lane.

$8.3 million for a backup center doesn't make sense when you've got needs at PG and PF.

I'd do one of these trades:

    Asik + TRob for a very good 2014 1st
Asik + TRob + TJones + Beverley + Rockets 2014 1st for Aldridge or Love (Obviously we'd have to get a 3rd team involved).

    Lin / Llull
    Harden / Llull
    Parsons / ?
    Love / DMo / Aldemir
    Howard / GSmith / Aldemir

I don't think the idea that they could play together is far fetched actually.

Asik has to go if you get Dwight ONLY IF you need to move him in order to improve the roster. If so, well, by all means.

However, having Asik would be an awesome luxury, one that we should only get rid of if we must.

Asik/Howard would work well together against Memphis and probably the Clips. Dwight can't guard Griffin?

As for their offense being horrible together, Greg Smith didn't bring a whole lot to the table on offense either.

I'm not saying it would work well for long stretches, but I definitely think there are stretches of games where it would work well and some matchups where it would work really well.

If Howard comes here, Asik should be moved to Sacramento for Cousins. Cousins provides the ability to shoot the mid range as well as the low post game. His BBall IQ is greater than many believe. This would be the twin tower tandem that will work. Cousins could also move over to the 5 spot when Dwight goes to the bench. If at all possible I'd like to see the Rox go after Bargnani with a combination of players. His value is at an all time low and he could play the stretch 4 in any combo of Howard or Cousins. Flame away!

Assuming we got D12, I would only move Asik for a top tier pf (KLove, LMA, etc..) o/w twin tower 'em.....Keep in mind, Asik is 8M vs cap, if u give D12 max $.... how much more are u willing to spend on your front court?

Throw up all you want. I never said I wanted him as a post up player. I said a stretch 4. He wasn't healthy for most of the year but as a complimentary player he's a very good scorer.

And he's a legit 7 footer. Something we don't have after Asik!
