Making excuses for not wanting to stay in class.

Sure some of the things he said are true but that's not how you go about it. He's a quitter.

Oh, sure... sure. That's the ONLY thing you misspelled. Sure, sure. You know you didn't mean to say "it had no effect" (correct usage instead of "affect"), joto. :p

    You can't fool us...

The teachers break out the learning packets when they don't like the job, or feel like they are ready to move on due to job change or retirement.

I understand you have to have standardized crap in public school, but the kid was right. Listen to grow ups is something kids should do, but when something constructive needs to be said it should even when all a teacher can say is goodbye. His message spreading the way it has at the very least got heard.

I don't know about whether the kid was in the right or in the wrong, but swoly is definitely still an idiot and I wish you all would stop quoting his incredibly annoying ramblings.

To be clear, you're advocating that any student of any gender, race, creed, nationality, etc. that has long hair, is causing a distraction?
    That's moronic.

It has nothing to do with race, creed or nationality. Long hair gets in the way, and they'll be busier fixing it or brushing it to the side (he did this while trying to talk to the teacher), and covering their faces, etc., making other kids AND the teacher look at the hair, etc., and not letting leroy learn the difference between affect and effect. That's the kind of distraction I'm talking about. I am not "advocating" anything. I am stating it's a distraction, and it is.

He just needs to put that **** in a pony tail or something. Problem solved.

Swoly doesn't like the kid so he's going to nit pick. How do you feel about girls with long hair?

He's right. Most schools will hire anyone with a degree willing to make $8 per hour and take vacations off. I don't get all the complaining teachers do about grading papers. If they actually taught in class they wouldn't need to give so many homework assignments to let the book do the teaching.

If he didn't make a scene his voice wouldn't have been heard.

Kids get the blame too for being lazy after their sugar rushes.

^ HE was actually TEACHING. He's in an authority mode. He can have long hair. He was without SIN. How about that, mister religious? ;)
Even THAT needs to be cut, but yes, maybe that will solve it and I'll be more lenient towards that  than the hair waving in his face or him playing with it in class.
I didn't like the kid but I wouldn't dismiss him having long hair.

And about girls with long hair: they're GIRLS. They will have long hair. That's acceptable. Maybe not in a military academy, but it's expected.

Is it acceptable for a man to have a vagina if he wants it?

this made it on yahoo news and the comments

"To give it some context: Right before the video, Jeff raised his hand to ask the teacher a question about the topic. He asked her to clarify it because he didn't understand it fully. She then told him to stop b---h-ing."

    This comment agrees with Swoly
"Not happy with your learning? Disrupt the learning of everyone else and disrespect the teacher. That should help. If you want to learn more, go learn more. The only one stopping you is you. Blaming a teacher and going off on her in class (whether deserved or not) does not help the situation. If you are having issues with a teacher; first talk it over with them privately and if that does not work you can file a complaint, talk to the principle, or both."

Yeah, on the video he clearly wants to learn, and by that video you can also tell she isn't qualified "to do so".

So many snags in all that revolution stuff. That's an awfully big blanket there. If you think public schools have no interest in 'actually educating our children in what's important' I would say you're generalizing at light speed, as well as being disingenuous about the causes of the problems upon which this video, according to you, shines a light.

Angry hippie kid looking for a cause and a place to point his finger. Maybe she is a terrible teacher, how would we know though?

His opinion may have been right, but his presentation, timing, and delivery sucked.

This is the silliest statement here so far. Again, differentiating him having valid opinions from whether he handled this well (whatever set him off who knows), the generalization and hyperbole is strong with this one. I'm curious just how many teachers you know making $8 per hour taking vacations off that have time to frequently complain to you about grading papers.

Again, some of these problems are worthy of discussion. When I see one I'll point you to it and maybe someone can email hippie boy with the link.
