Came across this 10 minute video compilation of Hakeem's post moves... I found the move at 9:45 mark amusing. He gives Anthony mason about 5-6 shakes. Just watch Mason's body. It looks like he is in a blender. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/22O2lApCBBs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Nice find. The best center, ever... It'll be nice if DMO can work with the Dream this summer. I can see DMO bust the moves like that...
I love watching him take opposing bigs off the dribble from the perimeter. Can't think of any bigs in the league right now who do that.
i've heard a lot about him before but never watched videos of him. thx for sharing. he's def got a lot of good offensive moves and VERY fluid/quick. Not what you would expect from centers...at least centers nowadays.
i was lucky enough to witness the man play.. its a shame he only won 2 titles.. 93 & 97 would have been great matchups against the bulls..
Absolutely beautiful. It's a shame no one in the NBA has these kinds of moves nowadays. It's fun to watch.
Why would teams even try to block Hakeem's shot? That's what Hakeem wanted. Also, that's why Mark West was so effective against Hakeem, because he knew he had no chance to block Hakeems shot so he just stood there with his arms up waiting for a hakeem to shot it.
Hakeem's face up moves wouldn't be nearly as deadly in today's NBA, but his bac to the basket game would more than make up for it.
I don't think there's any way to block a lot of those moves. Just a thing of beauty. Nowadays, with so many people flopping, I wonder how it would affect Hakeem's game. The awesome thing about that video is that he's schooling some of the greats in it. O'Neal, Robinson, McHale, Ewing (why did the have Mason on him at all?), I think I saw Rik Smits. And to think the video doesn't even show his defense, either...
Hakeem struggled against Mark West and the Suns in the 93-94 playoffs to average 28 points per game on 57% shooting for the 7 game series. West just stood there all right.
