During the all-star break Howard (parphrasing) was saying how exciting this team was and how they play together.
When he 1st arrived in LA, lol Kobe told him striaght up, " this is my team and just like everybody else, you have take the back seast" ( also paraphrasing). Through out the season, both Kobe and Howard would get into these arguments and would take turns blasting each other in the media.
LA also had the wrong coach for the job.

I agree with some of the things the writer stated. Howard would fit perfectly in the Rockets system but they will have to get rid of Asik. We need a stretch four. The players that comes to mind are: Josh Smith, Al Hofford, Paul Milsap, LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Bass. Only two of these Power Fowards are free agents, J.Smooth and P. Milsap. We would have to trade for one of those other three PF.

    You either:

    - Have no idea what you're talking about regarding Lilliard's game.

    - Have not watched the Trailblazers this year much, or

    - Completely overvalue Lin

Portland will be laughing at almost any offer for Lilliard in the next couple years. Our GM would do that in half of a heartbeat if we got DH.

Calm down bro never said Lillard isn't good he's a top 10 PG. And I was on the assumption that we dont get Howard. And I wouldn't say I'm overvaluing anything. Lin and Asik are more valuable than just Lillard IMO but if we have Howard already, then it makes more sense. But right now I doubt Morey makes any changes to the PG unless he can get CP3

Yea, it is possible but it is just as possible that he whines and moans about not getting enough touches down low disrupting team chemistry or his back gives him issues tying us up with max money in a center who can't play(sound familiar?).

I honestly think that if the lakers could just stay relatively healthy and they had a full year together + getting their coaching issues resolved, they could have been the force to reckon with that everyone expected them to be. A lot of ifs though. It was a high risk move given the age of Nash, Kobe, mwp, and Pau.

Wouldn't a fair comparison with the rockets

I really do believe that it's likely the Rockets can sign Howard.

Then turn around and trade Asik and (pick one)Jones/Robinson/D-mo for J-smoove or Milsap.

How good would we be with:

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Smith or Milsap
    Howard

I think pretty damn good. Not sure how are bench would be.

Considering our collection of PFs is not that good, the bench would not be any worse than it is now, with maybe TJones being the exception. He could be a very versatile bench or role player, but really we don't have any decent PFs to speak of.

why do people think Howard will not turn down an extra year of security with the Lakers 5yrs versus rockets 4yrs?

Howard said its not just about money which is true by what he did in orlando.

The guy took up his player option in orlando for 1 yr instead of signing 4yr/80 million when he could of become a free agent. essentially risking 80 million

Rockets are in my view the favourites...

the lakers are in a mess... and will no compete for next 2 yrs....

    Would it be better to:

    1. Sign Dwight Howard, and go all-in in attempting to sign/traded a 3rd man to complete our 'Big 3' (ex. Smith, Millsap) and go cheap with our bench

    or

    2. Sign Howard. Use rest of capspace to sign/trade for great roleplayers off the bench and to plug in a 4 man.

funny thing here is that other teams are also salivating for DH ... and they also think Howard will be on their way..

Unfortunately for them, none of them can offer as good of a situation as we can. Except for maybe Atlanta if they can convince CP3 aswell, but everything I've heard indicates Dwight doesn't want to go back home.

Inside game would open up our outside game even more if Dwight can pass. I'm all for the inside out attack than can compliment our drive it to the rim style that in its own right has been successful. Agree. Perfect match. Chris Paul is not it. Dwight is.

What I like most is that we know Lin, Parsons could go off for 30 or 20 on any given night to support the big two. and Asik is pretty stable for 10 and 10 in the post. To me, that has championship potential written all over it. The problem is that Miami will still be better than we are. But I do believe we will bypass Oklahoma is pure talent. I'd see us unfortunately more like the Jazz and Supersonics than the Houston Rockets or Bulls. the latter two having greater physical than mental iq. But Miami is not that cerebral. They too rely mostly on pure physical talent and god's gift. I think it gives us a chance. And I'm willing to gamble on that because without that inside outside balance, I just don't see us getting very far.

If the chance is there, we have to take it.

But why would we think that Dwight could coexist a whole lot better with Harden than with Kobe?

I would like to try Dwight at PF, with Asik at C. Dwight is not really that tall. Looks clearly shorter than Pau, for example.

    PG Lin
    SG Harden
    SF Parsons
    PF Howard
    C Asik

    Bench:
Beverley, some 3-point shooters, some backup SG, SF and PF

It's just from Synergy. It's ranking them by points per possession. It's not ranking them as PnR players, which is what Morey was presumably doing.
