Plan A) Paul and Dwight Plan B) Paul or Dwight Plan C) The other between Paul or Dwight Plan D) **** this, we'll wait for LaMarcus or Kevin Love, etc.
Forgot to add that we should also be looking into making small moves that are low risk but high reward like throwing a multiyear contract at Bynum that is backloaded with a team option on every year. That way we can start him at a low salary with the hope of him being able to recover and contribute to the team and if not we keep our team flexibility by having that team option on every year. (Just something I'm throwing out there for debate purposes. Point is, Morey should be looking like a hawk for bargains) Also would be smart to negotiate a buyout with Royce White so Morey can focus on getting players who can actually contribute to the team instead of ones who are just taking up a roster spot and making NBA money when they can barely keep up with D-leaguers... Enough is enough of this sideshow
I think you have it all covered. I think the Rockets success this year makes it more probable that they will try to make some kind of move that makes them more competitive next year. I don't see Howard or Paul coming here, but you never know. I see Morey making an all out effort for either Aldridge or Love, probably offering everything except Harden, Parsons, or Asik. If that doesn't work out, I see Morey taking Pau off of the Lakers hands for little in return. I also see Morey making a low-ball offer to Smith or Millsap. My best guess would be we end up with either Pau Gasol, or Millsap or do nothing at all. It should be a wild off-season for sure.
1) Paul and Dwight 2) Paul or Dwight 3) Develop young talent At the moment, any trade for Aldridge/Love is going to cost us at least one of, if not both Parsons and Asik. I don't see that as palatable for Morey. Regarding Smith, Morey traded away Morris because his BBIQ was low, and he's already seen what happened to a similar level player that he was saved from signing (Nene). The question you have to ask with Jefferson is does his offensive skills make up for a) the adjustments we would have to make to our offense and b) his lack of any defensive presence? I believe the answer is no. I don't see Millsap unless he comes for the right $, i.e. south of $7 million. We would be stunting the development of our 6 PFs (Smith, DMo, TJones, TRob, White, and Furkan Aldemir) for a player close to the downside of his career.
I believe as I stated in another post, that Demarcus Cousins is the player on Morey's radar. He will still be under his rookie contract for another year and the Rox would still be in a position to sign another high dollar player.
Here's how I see it (similar to dobro1229 post with a lil tweaking...) A) Sign D12 or CP3 as UFA (personally I don't want DHo, I think he is a lazy cancer... but if u can get either without giving anything up - other than for cap reasons - u do it) B) Sign whatever free agent pf (Al, JSmith, Milsap) you can get at a REASONABLE price (ie NOT a max deal for JSmith). Has to be a good contract that you can package at the trade deadline to get a superstar pf (KLove, LMA, etc...) C) Trade for superstar pf (Klove, LMA, etc) without the benefit of a newly signed pf (trying to keep Asik/Harden/Parsons - ow whatever pupu platter of pfs, pgs and future draft picks DM can talk someone into taking...) D) S&T for CP3 or DHo... once again, if you can make it work for the pupu platter so be it.. E) Short term or team options on gamble FA (Bynum, etc) F) Mid level trade (Pau, etc)) that doesn't cost too much in terms of assets, but leaves flexibility for future free agent class (KLove, etc..) G) Sign short term FA role players (ie Delfino contract) that may help next year and be possible trade assets at deadline that help us get a disgruntled star (KLove, etc)
Looks like Pau is plan B, C or D. Ha. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...ther-star-to-take-reconstruction-to-phase-ii/
