Any chance we can attain 2 of these players? (D12, CP3, J.Smith)

I am calling all salary cap experts to give me the info in regards to this. Considering how players love to play with other superstars and considering our salary cap flexibility and players like Asik that would be in demand via trade, is there a way to attain D12 and say for example josh smith??

I know it will be harder to attain Cp3 and howard because both will demand max money where as josh smith might be in the 12 million range. If there is a scenario where we could do this what would have to be done?

    thank

Peoples have dones the maths and we can sign 2 of them. Just need to get rid of Asik(which really sucks), one of our PFs, and Lin.

    Cross post but

Renounce everyone except Beverly and CP25.

Putting us at 42 Million. Let's assume that the cap is raised to the high end of $62 million. That allows us 20 million free.

After that we need to trade Lin + Asik + at least one of our young assets (DMO, TROB most likely or TJones)

We either do this in a SNT or for 2nd rounders to a team who has them. (non guaranteed contracts so they will not have a cap hold, there is a reason why Morris was traded for a 2nd and not a first because he could have netted a late first guaranteed.)

that is another 20-22 million freed up .

giving us about $40-42 million in cap space to sign those two.

We need to do this now rather than later because we are going to lock up Parsons down the line and he is going to cost about $10 million. The penalties are going to go down and the cap is going up but this is the summer to take advantage of our opportunities

I think we have a good chance with DHoward. The way we play is exactly the way his best ORL playoff teams played. And he gets a chance to work with McHale.

Did he see Asik hit his FTs? That's perfect advertisement

I think we would be able to force someone to take Lin in an Asik trade. Any way we can keep Asik, sign CP3 and Josh Smith? For a starting 5 of Paul, Harden, Parsons, Smith, Asik?

Same scenario I presented earlier but instead of 40 ish to offer you have about 32 million.

This is unlikely I feel. If CP3 comes it is because Dwight comes.

Dwight may come without CP3 but I do not think CP3 comes without Dwight.

$32 Mill should get you CP3 and Josh Smith. If it doesn't then you're overpaying Josh Smith. I think it is almost universal agreement though that Josh Smith should in no way get a max deal. If that's what he wants move on.

Not sure if I'd want CP3/Howard or CP3/Smith/Asik.

I think our options if we make a deal for CP3 / Howard are

CP3/ Howard in and Lin / Asik out

Howard in and everyone stays for the time being.

    Howard/Smith and Asik out.

If there's any plans, than that plan must involve trading Lin for no salary in return. It's ridiculously easy to trade Asik, and we can always dump one of our PFs along with a 1st round pick for nothing.

But Lin has a $8.3mil cap number and it's unclear if a team with cap room will take his salary.

lol $32M is not gonna get you both. First of all, I don't see CP3 leaving LA. Second, some team will offer JSmoove max or near max.

Josh Smith is already getting paid 13mil this year, he's looking for a raise and somebody will probably give it to him.

Smith can be had easily, Dwight is a toss-up and CP3 is basically unattainable

We're going to have to trade our young talent. Maybe even Parsons to be able to trade Lin away.

    Maybe just maybe:
Trade away Lin and Asik to clear up cap space. Package together picks + Parsons (nooooooo! :( ) + TROB/DMO/TJONES to help sell Lin's contract.
We clear up cap space. Get CP3 and Dwight Howard.
Andre Iguodala, starting to get up there in age, joins Houston for MLE money.

    LOL.
    CP3-Harden-Iguodala-???-Howard

    I can dream.

I'd only trade Parsons if it meant getting two superstars. Other than that I hope he retires a Rocket.

Most likely not in Moreys plans to even attempt. However I think he will touch base with Cp3s agent possibly even before Howard's. However, salary cap wise it's nearly impossible to get both.

It would be essentially Harden/cp3/Howard and whatever minimum contract players they could find. That's a ton of moving parts in a short period of time. Best to just forget about it right now, and take whatever the Rox might be able to get out of either cp3 or Dwight.

Parsons is literally the perfect guy to have around superstars, so it sucks if we have to get rid of him. Cheap contract and he doesn't need the ball to be effective because everything he does is off the catch.
