hypothetically, if rudy and steve agree that it is best for steve to play the 2. who do you want to see as our point guard?

please be realistic. pick someone who may be available for a possible package of (for example) mooch and rice's ending contract.

    --for the newbies--
yao, steve, griff, and unless its the best deal in the world, cat, are untouchable.

collier, Tmo, boki, hawk, and maddox have little or no trade value. lets keep them out of trades unless it is as a filler.

im stumped on the idea of what may be available. give me some help!

First, Cat is not untouchable. He's going to have to accept being a 6th man if he wants to stay in houston if we move steve to the 2.

2nd, guys I like are Brent Barry in seattle, but he is their de facto point guard and they dont need a sg like Mobley.

Christie but he isnt leaving Sacramento.

Jon Barry is decent, maybe Turkoglu in sacramento. Mike Miller in Memphis, Harpring or Kirilenko in Utah, Wally World in Minny, Derek Anderson in portland, Dunleavy in GS, Larry Hughes in washington wouldnt be that bad, David Wesley in NO.

You wont get any of these guys sans Jon Barry as a free agent with what you are offering.

If it was me, I would try to get in on a 3 way between Miami and Seattle, with Seattle getting Brian Grant or Travis Best plus something else from the Heat, Barry goes to Houston, and Cuttino lands in sunny florida.

If we did that, plus sign PJ Brown to our mid level exception, the rockets are a team to really fear next year.

Luke Ridnour. Trade Mobley and Griffin for that pick if you have to.

If Payton came to the Rockets there would have to be a strict understanding that he was to play the Playmaker, be a defensive stopper and a 3 point shooter and only a desperation scorer.

The only way that Francis moves to the 2 Guard is if we get GP in a Rockets uni.

Otherwise, he should stay at the PG.

    Andre Miller, hands down!

I've suggested this trade before & I'll suggest it again.

Houston sends Mobley/Cato/future #1 pick to the Clippers.

The Clippers sends a resigned Miller/ZhiZhi to Houston.

i think we only need a decent point gaurd to compliment our scorers. therefore we should pick up either travis best or darrell armstrong in free agency.

keep francis and mobley they are doing great together i would just get a better backup to Steve like Seve Blake or Hollis Price hopefully Hollis Price he is a good point guard and he shoots lights out. Or if not we should try to sign someone better than Mooch.

    Moochie for Juan Dixon? ;)

He's getting little play time aside from when Hughes/Lue are out...and I'm a sucker for Maryland players.

Wow - you think Miller is worth almost as much as Miller thinks he is worth.

    Cuttino + Cato = $12-13 mill
Zhizhi($1-2 Mill) - $12-13 mill = Andre Freakin' Miller at $10-11 million dollars!!!!!

Hottoddie, I'm sorry but you need to turn in your fantasy GM card. Are you seriously offering two players who are good values for their contracts plus a #1 pick for one player who is not an all-star(but gets paid all-star money in this deal) and a chinese scrub?

You cannot afford bad contracts if you are a luxury tax conscious team. If you are going to add a contract that the player will NEVER be able to live up to, can you at least do us the favour of dumping some bad contracts in the trade?

The only good thing I can say about this trade is that you are correct in that the Clippers will accept it. Sadly, that's not a good thing in this case.

I think Alvin Williams would be a nice backcourt partner for Francis. He's a big guard (6'5) guard allowing Francis to not to have to guard bigger 2 guards. While he's not the purest point guard, he still has best Assist/TO ratio in the league, which is great to have since Francis is a turnover machine. And he plays excellent defense.

I don't know what it would take to get him but Toronto wants to shed some salary. The Rockets have Rice's expiring contract to dangle. Plus, they covetted Taylor a few seasons ago when he was a free agent.

Marko Jaric. Great passer, good defender, 6-7, and he's a rookie. However, I think I'd rather keep things as they are.

I love all of the "move Francis to the 2" threads.
What would be the difference? He's not a pure shooter, he would still need to have the ball in his hands to score so the "real" point guard would never have the ball in his hands to distribute it.
What we really need is a pure shooter at the 2 to spread the floor for Francis to do his thing. Unfortunately there are no pure shooters anymore, Cuttino is pretty much the prototype 2 these days.
I don't know his cap figure, but what if we had Rice and Reggie Miller starting with Francis Yao and Griffin. Posey would still have to play starters minutes because neither Miller or Rice could play 30 minutes a game and they haven't played defense in years.
