Democrat - You believe that there should be a free market which is reigned in by a modest state beaurocracy. You think that capitalism hassome good things, but that those it helps should be obliged to help out their fellow mana little. Your historical role model is Franklin Rosevelt.

Pretty good quiz. Franklin D. Roosevelt is someone who I admire.

The World According to Ref (a scary place, no doubt)

Against gun control (the only people it hurts are those who obey laws).

    Against abortion.

    For the death penalty.

For the freedom of speech (even speech I don't care for).

For a society with norms even if they make some people uncomfortable (some things are right and others are wrong).

For the legalization of mar1juana (even though I have never used it).

For lower taxes and enhanced self-reliance (sorry folks, I have poor relatives and I know that some poor people are that way by happenstance but there are others who will not forge a life for themselves unless forced to for mere survival).

People can exercise their right to symbolic speech by burning a flag if I can then exercise my right to symbolic speech by kicking their ass.

For laws prohibiting discrimination based on color, creed, religion or sexual orientation.

For supporting our nation in time of war (yes...even when Clinton was in charge).

For allowing business to operate free of excessive government regulation. (if we take everything from the big guys, who will be there to give jobs to us little guys?)

Again, good job back slapping cadre. We've voted "conservative" enough times that the poll makes it appear that there is some equal balance on the board, much to the dismay of those who lean to the right.

Of course, Clutch may have caught on since he's posting more in political threads and starting his attack upon benign liberal posters like rimrocker.

    :D

    Beautiful.

Unless the mods are playing a funny little joke, I just voted and the results are 50-50.

Whether you agree with refman's beliefs or not, you must admit if that sounds like a very reasonable foundation for the country to abide by.

Very well thought out wonderfully put depiction of your beliefs! Good post ! ! especially for an aggy.. gig 'em ;)

mods are a funny little joke:D

Wow. I totally agree with you Ref. Every item. To the letter. It's rare to agree on so many topics with someone. I even agree with you on the weed thing and I, too, do not smoke the stuff.

Hmmm...I avoid this thread for awhile, but finally came in and made my choice. The surprising part is that after 102 votes, the tally is 51-51. I really thought I was outnumbered.

Liberal, BTW. I sure wish the search function was available, because haven described me perfectly once. He asked, and I paraphrase from memory:

"Why is Behad a democrat? He seems 1) older, 2) well off, 3) and has few ideas of his own. Then it hit me: He belongs to a union! Add in the fact he has a gay brother, and he couldn't possibly be a republican."

    There ya go.

That makes no sense. If someone disagrees with Ref's views (whatever they are), why would he/she think that they would be reasonable for our nation's political direction?

Not really a point here, I just thought that was an odd thing to say.

The World According to Ref (a scary place, no doubt)

    Disagree.

Agree in principle, but exceptions have to depend on the circumstances (e.g., rape, danger to the mother's health).

    Strongly disagree.

    Agree.

    Agree.

    Agree.

    Agree.

    Don't care.

    Agree.

Agree, as long as I can support my nation (e.g., I would not have wanted to fight for Hitler's cause).

    Agree.

I forgot to add that caveat. I don't want to force a woman to carry a child conceived from brutality. I am against abortion for convenience.

I've never really understood this. If you think abortion is wrong because it kills an innocent living thing, how can you support it in any case?
