Just came off meeting and see this. Thanks a million GranvilleWaders!

Anyone else also concerned with Yao's summer dues? What's up with that "old coach is back and so he'll be tired" thing?

I think he meant that the "old coach" had a style of working his players to death in practice. That's why Yao (quoted by Rudy, who said Yao wasn't joking) is lamenting that it's gonna be a very tiring summer.

    Bad news for the Rockets.

any idea how many hrs of training this old chinese national team coach would demand of his players daily ?

OH NO , how can Yao bulk up now. ABC championships this year then Olympics next year. Gosh , when is he ever going to have a "light" summer.

Check out the "How about Wang" thread. Yao was trained and paid for by China, you know.... Although, I bet Yao would've been much better than he is now if he were trained, say, in Yugoslavia, Spain, Argentina, or maybe even the U.S.A.;)

Q: I know the Chinese National Team has to play in the Olympic qualifying tournament this summer. Have you been given any indication whether you are going to have any availability with him this summer?

A: I know that today he said...they hired the old Olympic coach.

    Q: What does that mean?

A: He said man, I'm gonna be tired this summer..(oh really?)..that's what he told me this morning. That was an older guy than the one they had this last time.

Q: So this guy's a real task master?

    A: I guess so.

Q: He has a sense of humor...maybe he was just messing with you.

A: No...no he wasn't. He was just being honest.

    [....]

Q: So is it basically, end of season, 'See you at training camp?'

A: I don't know. We are going to have to find out.
