    1. Good call or bad call: OKC intentionally fouling Omer Asik.

Danny Chau, Hardwood Paroxysm: Bad call, though I suppose it was an idea worth exploring. The Thunder were desperate to break up Houston's rhythm, and it makes sense to continue to put pressure on their worst free throw shooter. But OKC wasn't really able to capitalize, and Asik made enough to nullify the entire plan. It wasn't one of OKC's finest moments.

Nick Friedell, ESPN Chicago: Bad call. After Scott Brooks saw Asik make a few in a row, why the heck did he keep fouling him? The Turkish big man had clearly found a rhythm and was getting more confident the more he went to the line. Brooks rolled the dice and came up empty ... one of his assistants should have told him to put the dice down at some point.

Danny Nowell, Portland Roundball: Bad call. On top of backfiring score-wise -- Asik shot 13-of-18 on the night -- it marked a visible turning point in OKC's confidence. The Thunder pride themselves on their defense and confidence in their process; last night, in the biggest game of their season to date, they lost both. Not a fatal blow, but a low point the team will have to recover from.

Ethan Sherwood Strauss, ESPN.com: Bad call. As ESPN's stats wiz Alok Pattani points out, such a strategy would only make sense if Asik was a 45 percent free throw shooter or worse. The big man shot 56 percent on freebies this season, well above that threshold. There just wasn't a firm logical basis for what Scott Brooks did. It conveyed a lack of trust in his defense, while not helping Oklahoma City in any tangible way. Awful move.

Michael Wallace, ESPN.com: Bad call. It is easy to play the result on this one. But fact is it's the only way to evaluate if the strategy worked. Bottom line: It didn't. Asik made enough free throws to prevent OKC from gaining much ground.

I actually thought it was a good call, it got the lead down to 6 with over 4 minutes to play, Brooks just needed to quit while he was ahead. If I were a fan of OKC though I would be pissed and annoyed that my team would amount to that tactic, as I was when the Rockets did it to Dwight. It's un-watchable basketball.

What I would be interested in is why Harden's constant jacking of shots while Asik was being fouled didn't result in free throws.

I know under a normal offensive situation, it would, so there must be some part of the rules which addresses it, I just don't know the specifics.

One problem that arose from it all and Shaq pointed it out was that when it got down to 6 points, you have to stop fouling and try to score and play D.

Why continue when you had got it that close? That was the worst part of that call.

If Harden would have made one of those shots I think it would have counted. If a player makes a shot while another player is fouled, the shot will count and the player fouled will still shoot FT's.

Bad call. Normally you see the under dog taking such measures. Not the number one seed.

    Shallow. Sad. Surrendered.

Rockets not only had the score board. They were dominating their minds.

It kind of backfired though, because Asik was actually hitting most of his free throws. Asik better shoot 100 free throws before the next game lol.

While it maybe a bad call, it's easier said than done. It's like after the market closed, you wonder why you didn't sell the stock at the peak.

When the deficit was down to 6, It's very hard to stop what's been working. Had Brooks stopped fouling at that point and OKC lost, people would question why he stop a strategy looked so effective.

I think, as a coach, it sends a horrible message to your own team. It's saying "I don't think you can stop them." While it got to 6 points, Brooks ruined the flow of the game for both teams.

Plus, it was the p***y thing to do. They tried it last year against San Antonio. It didn't work then and it didn't work last night. Given the opportunity in game 6, I doubt Brooks is dumb enough to do it again.

Attempting Hack-a-Turk was a good call. Because it worked. The deficit was cut to 6 with plenty of time left.

Not knowing when to stop was the bad call.

    OKC got greedy.

Why? You have to consider how poorly Greg Smith is playing.

The last time Hack-a-Turk was utilized, we took Omer out of the game against the Mavericks. OKC did their homework and were trying to force the Rockets a smiliar hand.

My thing was why not give the Ball to Asik mid-court and have Asik attempt a 3pt shot while getting fouled. Would that not be 3 attempts at the line?

You have to be in the act of shooting to get a continuation call.
Now, why would OKC foul Omer in the ACT of shooting from way out there?

I was asking this and then the Rockets tweeted it. Why doesn't Asik just run away from the guy trying to foul him. When he knows they're doing it he should get the rebound and run the opposite way out of bounds. Then try to run up the court after a few seconds and avoid a foul. Part of the strategy is milking the clock and getting more possessions. Don't run into the foul.

If it can shave an extra 5 seconds each time then that's almost an extra minute off the clock.

Especially when they could just steal the ball from him.

Yeah, i wasn't sure why Asik wasn't running away some. At least burn off some more seconds, don't stand there waiting for it.

Harden's first half court shot, when he was anticipating the call, could have turned out to be a huge blunder. He basically gave away a possession.

I didn't think it was a bad call by Brooks. They were trying to cut into the lead, but houston kept hitting shots to keep it around 10. KD alone can make up a 3-5 point deficit in no time, but not 10. They had to try something, but Asik just made them regret it, on both ends really, IIRC, he had some nice defensive stops as well.

But if you consider they were ONLY down 8 points when Hack-Asik started, then it was a bad call. So they went through 1 minute and 21 seconds of Hack-Asik to cut the lead by 2 points?

Good call for them they were down by like 15pts and ended up losing by 7. Basically good that they did it, but bad they didn't know when to stop
