Listening to the difference in the huddle was eye opening. McHale leading like a guy who has been there before.
Props for staying who he is always positive in his own way even tho many won't like it, including me...
I was very disappointed with McHale's coaching in Game 1 of this series. Then I thought he did GREAT in Game 2. I was really impressed. Then he did the predictable mistake of just running zone to start off in Game 3. I felt down again, then lately up again! Regular season, Spurs final play = awesome. PHX and MEM and even Game 4 final plays (if we can peg it on McHale) were crap. I have like a roller coaster of feelings about McHale haha. Takes me up and then down. All of this makes me think he's just learning. He isn't too great, learns what works and what doesn't, and then gets better. He's built a great atmosphere in Houston as well for the young players. I can't complain.
I am pretty sure that a basic truth he holds to is that spacing is absolutely necessary and key. you can see how the guys make sure they're not bunched up together on offense so you gotta figure that mchale drills this into their heads. the ball movement is harder to do when the action is going, so it's hard for me to judge whether this is stressed as much as spacing. I mean, in theory, a good iso can create shots for others with the proper spacing since there will have to be defense help from somewhere.
so we are gona take away haters' toy one by one? where are they gona draw the hatred from? how can they survive?
read somewhere that PPP is much higher when the player passes out of an ISO, so sure. not when harden holds the ball and everyone just stares at him. team is making strides and i think they'll get it down. it's on harden and everyone else.
Maybe I'm going overboard with this, but... Former big man who seemingly is not a good in-game manager in the beginning, but adjusts and lets the players figure things out... dare I complete that thought? *gulp
This young team is growing, the coaching staff is growing, and everyone is learning and growing and the future is bright!
Just frustrating how kneejerk the reaction is, I guess always will be. Does anyone post "Props to McHale" threads after the Rockets lose? No. Because the coaches are the first ones to be blamed for a loss (after the refs, I suppose).
You need to get your priorities straight. If you're frustrated after wins, playoffs wins mind you, you need to go root for another team.
Yeah you gotta give credit where credit is due. He's doing great. He definitely deserves to be the coach of this team even if we lose game 6... But I see us winning game 6.
Not really. Scotties has done very well building Asik's confidence. McHale couldn't have outdone that.
I still can't believe so many people refused to see this coming. A team that was completely turned over into the youngest team in the league clearly needs time by definition. Like talented young teams, they are streaky(Though they certainly waited long enough to bust out of that slump). Morey should have let McHale narrow the rotation down sooner than he did, but alls well that ends well! Without Westbrook, Harden just has a better squad around him than Durant does. Like it or not, I'm sure Howard is liking the idea of being part of this more and mroe.
