Lebron shot 56.5% from the field this year. Even advanced stats will agree thats outstanding, even compared to Durant's excellent 51%
Durant is an amazingly good FT shooter. Factor in also that he leads the leagues in attempts(I think? Maybe Harden) and you have yourself one of the most offensively efficient players in the game. Some of the ways he gets to the line is very very questionable though after witnessing this series against Houston. That rip through move has been getting him FT attempts the last few games.. He's a superstar without question but LeBron's just in his own league like people before have said.
I always said that OKC should have traded Westbrook for Rondo (instead of trading Harden) with some other pieces because Westbrook is a little better than Rondo but Rondo would fit better with OKC. Imagine Rondo-Harden-Durant-Ibaka-Perk oh myyy..... Or if they really wanted to trade Harden, they could have traded him to the Celtics for Rondo as well I am sure Boston would have accepted the trade either way. Then you move Westbrook at the 2-Guard. Rondo-Westbrook-Durant-Ibaka .... it would have been really really scary.
Imagine if Lakers traded Bynum for Howard..then somehow trade picks and get Steve Nash to run the point. Nash-Bryant-Artest-Gasol-Howard would be easy championship, they'd probably sweep the playoffs.
I have a new appreciation for Durant the way he's responded these last two games. I don't get how Barkley can still maintain that Carmelo Anthony is the game's greatest scorer. Durant just makes it look so easy.
Lol good point. On a serious note, Rondo-Harden(or Westbrook)-Durant-Ibaka-Perkins line-up is way more dangerous than the Lakers' one.
Sometimes Barkley says some idiotic stuff. Maybe because Melo is always locked into "shoot first" mode, it makes him appear a better scorer than KD who (unlike Melo) regularly passes the ball a couple of times during a possession. As said in another thread, even after 10 NBA seasons, Melo's head doesn't match his talent.
Lebron has higher eFG% and shooting .627 regular FG% in playoffs I know the stats humpers like TS%, as do I as its the TRULY meaningful scoring measure. But there's still something to be said of consistent regular bucket making. Like Chandler Parsons last game he's allergic to the free throw line, and Durant dusts him in true shooting, but was still the "dependable" guy for the Rockets
I think Melo probably has the best overall offensive game in the league -- the only thing durant doesnt have is a post game. I am not sure if he ever will - he has the height just not the strength to be a consistent post player. Durant has a much better (or at least more consistent) stroke than Melo does but if we're going to talk complete offensive arsenal Melo probably has the best in the league (Kobe has the best probably but with his age and decline in athleticism he cant do some of the stuff he used to do - so he dropped in that area) that all being said i would still rank durant the better scorer
If we're going by all-around ability, then I'd have to rank Kobe ahead of Melo. Even with some decline, he still has more all-around ability than Melo.
To Chuck, best chucker is best scorer. Melo is not a better scorer than Durant. If we're judging by overall offensive arsenal, you put LBJ above Melo. You can argue Melo still posts up better than LBJ, but LBJ is a better penetrator, finisher, mid-range and long range jumpshooter, and playmaking.
Kevin Durant is to me just a great shooter, he gets a charge here and there in defense because he is KD, and in offence if you ref him like any other player he is just in the Carmelo Anthony league. LeBron james is a way better player. None of them is in my view an all time great at least not yet. Because all time great should be able to win multiple times, or carry very weak teams to the championship. Durant is clearlly unable to do this, LeBron seems able to do it but failed, and is now trying to become an alltime great by the other standard. Examples of alltime greats by multiple championships are Bird, Magic, Bryant. Examples of great players carrying weak teams are Olajwan (twice) and Duncan (once).
You didn't even put bill Russell or Jordan in the all time greats by multiple championships... Lebron carried his team, the team he took was very weak in regards to the team Duncan and Olajuwon took (both had a second star or GTG) but Lebron 2nd GTG was zadrunas illgauskas. You can see the immediate impact of when these players left their teams and how badly it effected them. When Jordan left, seemed like BULLS could still compete. When Lebron left, Cavs couldn't at all. You get the drift...
So you're saying Jordan became an all-time great by the other standard??? Laughable. And you don't consider Barkley or Malone or Stockton all-time greats b/c they didn't win a championship? Laughable.
