Mchale said the right things in that interview. He said, "we" instead of calling Harden out. Harden knows he didnt play well to end the fourth, he'll be better next time.
Keep dreamin' son. Harden's iso's are and have been, an endless source of embarrassment for the past three months running.
This is the second time McHale and Harden publicly disagreed with each other. The first time was a few weeks ago when Harden came back from sitting out two games. McHale should have held him accountable from the beginning. It's a bit too late and ineffective now.
How did he get to the line 15 and 20 times this series without getting calls? How many FTAs would he have had had he got the calls? 63?
I'm not so sure about that anymore. Steph: 45% FG 45% 3-PT 90% FT 4 RPG 7 APG 23 PPG 3 TO Harden: 44% FG 37% 3-PT 85% FT 5 RPG 6 APG 26 PPG 4 TO Curry is the better shooter/passer but Harden maintains a slightly higher TS% due to his ability to get to the line. Thing is when calls aren't going his way he can struggle because he relies on this so much. Curry is more well rounded, is a better ball handler. Curry has also outplayed Harden in the playoffs so far.
But Harden is a better team player. He requires more defense to focus on him because of his ability to score in different ways. Harden will draw the defense more than Curry which gives Harden the ability to make teammates better in way that Curry can't.
Harden's statline makes him the most overrated player ever, not to mention the amount of touches and whistles he got in the regular season, its all gotten to his head and he's just playing for himself to build his image into superstar status, and failing miserably, smh.
Last year I was watching OKC finals and was wondering why this guy isoed a lot. He is effective in transition but man, his iso is not what he does best.
hmmm nice one.... if only he could develop that midrange jumper...say 50% and a somewhat reliable 3....
He is the King of TO right now. I have never seen any other NBA player playing so carelessly like him. Turn over by turn over, and he doesn't feel a thing.
Idk why everyone is saying Steph Curry is better, nothing he has done this season has shown that. He had a great start to the playoffs, but came back to earth last game.
steph curry has a greater variety of shots that he can take.. making the offense more dynamic his shot selection is pretty much limited by his imagination because of the great skill on floaters and runners he has harden needs to go to work on some in-between moves.. something really shifty in the midrange
THIS is the Harden we all saw in the first half of the season. Efficient, taking the ball in strong looking to finish instead of foul, and not forcing anything. He really trusted his teammates with the ball alot more today and let the game come to him. GREAT game. If he can play like this in game 6, I have no doubt we can force a game 7.
This. I don't think I saw one super iso play like he did 1000 times in the past 4 games. Props. He was even unselfish toward the end and let the clock run out instead of taking a shot, that was nice, show's he's not a stat stuffer like fisher and JR smith both did tonight by taking last minute 3's on the last posession with no one guarding you despite having lost already. Harden is an all-star for sure, but iso is just not the formula, not for him, not for anyone not named Jordan. Even Lebron, and to a lesser extent, Durant (but not Melo) know that moving the ball and trusting your teammates is the long term solution. Even Jordan knew to pass it to Kerr on for that game winner. Great players play great the whole game and but know what's best for the team. Only thing I can say is that the defense was still some what suspect this game by Harden (i'll live with it if he continues to shoot 70% as well as he did tonight) and that one weird chuck he had from half court before asik was fouled... If we lost tonight it would've been on the refs. There was that one sequence in the 2nd half where the thunder were getting a foul call on every single possession and Durant had more FT attempts than our entire team, it was maddening. Good job to the entire Rockets team to play too well to left officiating determine the game.
