    Welcome! Whether you're in China or newly arrived in the U.S., the best way to learn English is to be around other English speakers as much as possible. Try taking a English language class, if there's one available in your area. If not, just hang around people who speak English & ask questions when you don't understand something. Good luck.

    chinawang, I'd say you've got a better grip on English already than some of the folks on this board. In fact, if you're just learning, I'm surprised you've already got the hang of contractions.
