I don't know about Spurs shutting down Kobe because they really don't have a solid perimeter defender besides Leonard. I do agree if Kobe played more of a role where he would average around the 18-20 ppg the team would benefit much more. Also I completely agree about Kobe's defense. One of the things that has gotten on my nerves about him this year is his horrible transition defense. After he shoots he just watches the ball instead of running after his man on the other side. But I still believe Lakers will miss Kobe a lot because I don't trust Joodie Meeks who is a big chucker himself but can't really create for anyone else. It'll be interesting though to see how everything plays out, hopefully its a competitive series.

I don't know which is worse, D'Antoni attempt to turn Pau into a stretch 4 and play Clark and Jamison over him or McHale's effort to make Lin a spot up shooter and play Douglas and Beverley over him.

At least now D'Antoni might finally see the light after 80 or so games and with the absence of Kobe lol.

Both D'Antoni and McHale are horrible coaches who force players to fit into their gimmick so called systems rather than utilizing their players' talent. Both deserve little credit getting their teams to the playoffs IMO.

    Ends the way it started.

Disaster & nightmarish season over. How big of a fail were the 2012-2013 Los Angeles Lakers in sports history and NBA history?

I am very glad the Lakers made the playoffs. The humiliation of watching them get swept by the Spurs was great.

Actually, I'm not a cap expert, but this totally makes sense.

If I'm not mistaken, they saved a bunch of money getting rid of Jefferson, they also have cap space and as long as the all of their big 3, especially Duncan get front-loaded contracts -- it should work! They would probably have to get rid of Blair and some other players, but that's not really an issue.

D'Antoni 1-14 in his last 15 playoff games ..... Anymore questions??

Not making excuses for DH12 in any way shape or form .... But D'Antoni is a piss poor coach , especially when it comes to big men.

Didn't some "analysts" and "experts" say the Lakers wanted the Spurs and could make it a great series or possibly win?

Looks like it worked out for them. TD & TP are near peak form and we'll see about Manu. They should be able to beat the Warriors or Nuggets easily before facing a stiff test against the Clippers or Grizzlies.

This is similar to what happened last year, they looked great going into OKC and then a younger, more athletic team ran circles aroudn them and it all fell apart very quickly; I think any remaining WC playoff team (not including Houston) presents a danger.

That was none other than Lakers homer Magic. But then again, he was spewing all this non-sense before Kobe got injured.

it's a shame that all those refs had to expend so much extra energy blowing their whistles the last 2 months of the season, just to watch LA get swept in the playoffs anyways. and even worse is all that extra carbon dioxide from their exhales can't be good for global warming either :X

every West series is tightly contested at 3-2 except Spurs-Lakers...swept 0-4. Those pretenders obviously didn't belong.
