With the Marlins' victory over the Cubs and the Astros getting swept in 4 by the Red Sox, their records stand at 6-19 and 7-18, respectively. The Astros are ahead of the Marlins by virtue of winning percentage (.280 against .240).

The Padres and Cubs will most likely be in the mix for worst record as well, but they could be left in the dust by the end of June.

Rodon's not a lock to go number one. Cederoth from SD State, Nola from LSU, and Beede (former first rounder by Toronto who went unsigned) from Vandy are all legitimate competitors for that top spot. Position player Trea Turner of NC State is also a contender to go very high.

If you look at run differential, the Astros and Marlins are clearly ahead of the pack at -50 and -46 respectively.

The Padres and Cubs are way behind at -28 and -15.

I bet the Marlins would love to get Rodon, though. He is Cuban. They could pair the Cuban Fernandez with the Cuban Rodon at the top of their rotation in the near future. That is the type of stuff Loria cares about.
