^This. And I'm watching a replay of the game, those people are definitely not wearing olajuwon jerseys. Lots of them are wearing blue, green, yellow...street clothes, others are wearing free red tees from past games. I agree that if you pay to watch a game, you're free to wear what pleases you. But participating in the white-out effect will be a nice gesture of showing support.
Drove there in flood yesterday. It was damn loud when we were in the rally. Too bad we didn't make it through the end.
My brother had to pick me up to go to te game. I had water up to my garage door (I live near Hobby) and we passed by two downed trees on our way out there.
Was pretty loud in the arena. A couple of annoying Thunder fans behind me had to nerves to ask me to sit down cause they can't see. lulz. It was a pretty ****ty feeling as a fan when I realized that shirts were only for lower level seats. Sounds like it'll be the same on Monday, but with red shirts.
I'd say a better sign of support is having no voice the next morning after spending money on tickets, concessions and the apparel that you wear to the game. Pretty sure the white shirts didn't dictate the outcome, they just make it look nice on TV. For what it's worth, I wore the shirt. I just think it's stupid that not wearing it makes ppl think that you're less of a fan.
from a TV viewers perspective:First half was half empty and somewhat quiet, but would get pretty loud when they scored even being down 20. Then got pretty full by the 2nd half and the place was rocking from that point on. People also have to remember it was flooding that day. If your not living in Houston or aren't going to the games yourself, people should make threads like these, they're dumb. If you have a problem with it, GO YOURSELF and help solve it.
When I came to the game and saw the white t-shirt, my first thought was "why white? It should have been red." Unless it is cheaper to make white t-shirt then red ones. By the way, I do not stand up because when I do, bad things happened. Then again, good thing did not happened either. So I shall do it differently on Monday game.
Been to lots of Rockets games. Been to playoff games in 07, 08,and 09, but this is by far the loudest I ever heard it. It was loud and not a lot of people were in their seats. Imagine if everyone was. I've always been jealous of the Oakland Oracle crowd. I think they're the loudest and most vocal. I saw a tweet from someone saying it was loud, almost Oracle loud, and that really pumped me up. I think we wanted to blow the roof off the place, but we needed a player to hit that shot. People had so much trouble getting to the game. I was lucky that I didn't run into any trouble, but I saw tweets from people that places were flooded especially near 288. The Texans people even tweeted out pics from outside reliant. I couldn't cheer as loud and be as vocal because I went to the viewing party Wednesday. I did my cheering there and messed my throat up. Now I have a sore throat. I'm coughing up everything. I wish we could get a Crawford sucks chant. That would have brought the place down, but I'm not sure of the basketball iq of everyone there. Overall, that was the best crowd I've seen at Toyota center.
Kudos to you for making it to the game despite the conditions. Mark of a true fan. I try but don't go to a lot of Rockets vs. LA teams games because it's ridiculously expensive. However, when I do I like being the only one wearing a Rockets jersey and cheering when the Rockets take the lead and shut down the typical obnoxious fans that get in your face because they make a basket.
I was at the game. I thought the crowd was pretty damn good considering all the flooding. I went to about 25 games this year and this was by far the loudest I went to. The only other time I remember it being this lid was game 6 against Portland when we knocked them out to go to the second round. On another not I will be at the game tomorrow. I may be one of the only ones who think the Rockets still have a chance. They just can't lose faith.
My section had a Joey sucks chant going. It was louder than when I went back against the lakers. People complain but traffic was horrendous yesterday. I luckily left an hour and a half before the game started.
My voice is raspy from last night. What a game. You had to be there. The loss is disappointing as ever but our future is bright.
Was there in section 412, I do agree with the OP. Tip off, half the bottom sections were empty and maybe only 75% of folks wearing the t shirts supplied to them. I understand people can whatever they want to do with their money, but it doesn't change the fact that our fans suck compared to other cities. It did get loud last night but it does take quite a bit to get fans up and rowdy, (such as coming back from being down 26). By the way, it really bothers me when we play an elite team and see all these people with their jerseys. I'm OK if they were from OKC or have been fans for a long time but I can almost guarantee you many of these bandwagon fans just wanted to come and root for the team that was favored to win.
Some people couldn't even get out of their neighborhoods and the people that were there probably drove through dangerous levels of water in the dark to get there. Please don't start commenting and questioning unless you live in Houston and understood the extent of how bad it was for some people. I was there and I can tell you the electricity in that place was incredible.
Sure, the flood is a good excuse for not being able to make it to the game and I feel bad for the people that are suffering or have lost valuables to it. However, what about the regular season? Why can't we have a mass, supportive fan presence like other teams?
It may have a lot to do with people not being to watch on TV. Some people at work didn't even know we had James Harden on our team (because they can't watch the games). It tends to turn the casual fan away which makes up a lot of those seat vacancies during games. I'm hoping that will all be rectified soon.
