The Top Gun thread got me thinking about the 80's. There were some badass movies from back then. Here's my top-5, with my apologies to Rocky IV, Footloose, Cocktail, and Ghostbusters 1. Wall Street: Sheen and Douglas play their roles perfectly. Oliver Stone puts together some awesome dialogue, and excellent portryal of insider trading. 2. Fast Times at Ridgemont High 3. Caddyshack 4. Top Gun 5. Karate Kid
...off the top of my head 1. Brazil 2. Empire Strikes Back 3. Diner 4. Back to the Future 5. Raiders of the Lost Ark
Back to the Future (1, 2 and 3) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Terminator Alien (and Aliens) Ferris Bueller's Day Off -Rocky 4, FastTimes and Weird Science are up there also. And I guess Raiders of the Lost Ark. edit: How could I forget Red Dawn, Brewster's Millions and Goonies!!!
(don't cringe)... Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Caddyshack Beverly Hills Cop Spaceballs Apocolypse Now (yeah...I know it was '79...still wanted to mention it!)
Ummm....this isn't the "Top 5 80's p*rn movies" thread! ...of course AB mentioned "Slumberparty Massacre"...
I'm feelin' listy.... 1 brazil 2 the thing 3 ran 4 sex, lies, and videotape 5 amadeus -- 6 the evil dead 7 stardust memories 8 day of the dead 9 roger and me 10 the empire strikes back
Actually, believe it or not, it was a constant in HBO's late night movie stable in the 80s. Not p*rn at all, more of a racey B movie staring Wendy O. Williams:
No Particular Order "Coming to America" "Back to the Future" "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" "Parent Hood" "National Lampoons Vacation" "Alien" "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" "Risky Business" "Rain Man" and many more. I don't know what I would rate Top 5
Airplane! Blade Runner Terminator, The This is Spinal Tap Room with a View, A Princess Bride, The Raising Arizona Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, The
Nice. Fletch and Trading Places - awesome. Also the National Lampoons movies were great. Chevy Chase rules!
It'll take me a while to compile this one. Caddyshack and Airplane! (if it was the 80s) are definitely on the list.
Too many I consider sacred to narrow to only five. So I'll do categories... 5) Die Commie Bastards!- "Rocky IV," "Red Dawn," etc. 4) Slashers- "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare On Elm Street" franchises. 3) Puppets/Muppets- "Labyrinth," "The Dark Crystal," "Gremlins," "Little Shop of Horrors." 2) Brat Pack- "Breakfast Club," "Pretty In Pink," "St. Elmos's Fire," "Weird Science," "Sixteen Candles," etc. 1) SNL/SCTV Clique- "Stripes," "Caddyshack," "Spaceballs," the Vacations, and the Holy Grail: "Ghostbusters."
