Immaturity is typical for young people that have natural ability and can beast with little effort.....hopefully he can overcome that and recognize what being a pro means. People like this are also feeders when in the right situation, and being around people that "make it happen" ....have talent and don't squander their abilities.....maybe (hopefully) will rub off on dude. If so, he could be a great pick. The ability is there....he just needs to grow up.
To take who? Also, if Reed moves inside, that problem is solved. Not sure if this happens though. Why do you think Garrett Graham was not great last year? For a backup tight end, with not a ton of experience, I thought he was excellent.
This is exactly why I like this pick. It's about time we start taking some risks. Taking a guy who slipped because of character issues is a great way to pick up elite talent in later rounds.
Hmm... I'm surprised the Texans would draft a player this high with questionable work ethic. Normally, Wade drafts high motor players....
Wow, that is a dick move by a coach. At least explain yourself to scouts... I don't see Montgomery being lazy here. There are too many leaders for that to happen. You think this guy sits around when he's got Cushing, Watt, Ed Reed, his high school buddy Swearinger, and Antonio Smith after him? I like his personality though. Reminds me.of Antonio Smith from the interviews I've seen.
Well, if you believe the rumors, they wanted to talk to Tyrann Mathieu. I thought they had lost their minds based on their previous track record/image.
The coach did say: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>@<a href="https://twitter.com/chaddscott">chaddscott</a> The pic from office window is old news. These guys had all missed a class. Great kids and hard workers. <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23tigertough">#tigertough</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23LSU">#LSU</a></p>— Tommy Moffitt (@TommyMoffitt) <a href="https://twitter.com/TommyMoffitt/status/285027966348570625">December 29, 2012</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
so now people cant say the texans doesnt draft players with some bad attitude, but with great football skills.
No... They added a safety that in their system that will be on the field for half the defensive snaps and an OL that may end up starting over Newton.. That is 1-3 starters... And their first 4 picks all should be in the rotation.
Like Montgomery's honesty. Sure he is immature, but all reports say that when his motor is turned on , it is really turned on. His physical tools and production look really good for a 3rd rounder. So far i really like what the Texans have done this draft and hopefully we can pick up a good DT and maybe another offensive weapon ( WR or TE ) tommorow. I would definitely not be opposed to using one or both 6ths to move up in the 4th or 5th to get "our guy."
The Texans wont admit it, but that 2nd round pick was stolen by the Ravens...If they thought that pick was in jeapordy, they wouldve moved up...but didnt expect the Ravens to trade up...Arthur Brown wouldve been with the Texans if the Ravens didnt swap with the Seahawks
This...Sam Montgomery challegened himself with Mingo...wait till he see's what JJ Watt does... BTW: As I have mentioned before, I really think that the Ravens stole Arthur Brown from the Texans...they wont admit to it, but I really know that they wouldve picked him up in the 2nd... But since that happened, Wade and Co. might ve decided that it is time to move Reed inside with Cushing, and let Mercilus, Crick and Montgomery fight on the Outside...personally, would like if Sam could get more athletic and loose some weight...but when he closes...he closes hard.. I like that the Texans really got big physical players with their WR, and defensive players...dont know much about the OT.. Regardless, I trust in Kubiak, Wade, and Smith's Assesments on these picks...Go Texans
