Swift was the 2nd pick of the draft and the Grizzlies traded away an extremely talented Drew Gooden just to get this guy more playing time. I seriously doubt that they'll part with him.
Why would you want to trade Griffin for him. He has had a stretch of 5 good games. That's about all he's done in his years in the league.
Well, Griffin has never had this kind of stretch ever. I am still hoping that he put up one and drives us deep into the playoffs. -G'day-
Swift is free this summer, or did Grizz exercise their rights last summer? It could cost them lots of jack.
Swift will be a restricted free agent July 1. I have seen him play lately and he is much improved. I don't know how much he's worth on the market, though. The Grizz are trying to get below the luxury tax. Would they match if we offered the mid-level exception? (And then traded EG?) Sorry; I just don't think EG's that great. No confidence, no shot, no handles. And the Rockets are Stro's favorite team from childhood (although he'd probably prefer the Hornets now, being a Loozy-anna native).
Swift has gotten better, he had so much hype comming out of college though I think people forgot that he was so young. Kinda like Griffin but I think Griffin will also improve in a year or two to a very solid PF. Griffin is already sought after by so many teams, remember Sonics wanted to trade R. Lewis for him and Atlanta wanted to trade Abul Rahim for him also, who both are very solid stars. I doubt they would trade them for Swift. Griffin has all the makings to be a star in the future, he shines brighter than most people think outside of Houston.
I have been pretty impressed with his numbers as of late. He is playing the PF spot with Gasol at Center. Am I to assume his recent number increase is due to the fact he is getting more minutes and playing PF? Since I have not seen him on TV lately, why type of shots is he hitting? Are they post moves, put backs, jumpers etc? I always got the impression he was a pretty raw offensive talent so I am interested in knowing if his offensive game has made strides. Chris
On P Bender's both Swift and Mike Miller are not FAs until 04. Thus I would think he is a restricted FA July 1, 04--of course I could be wrong. I would try to land Swift with the MCE. Fact is neither EG nor Swift are sure things, if you could get Swift as a FA you do it and hope either EG or Swift turns into a quality 4 in this league. If they both work out even better, than you trade one of them, but at least you have 2 chances at a solid player developing. It is 18 months away, but if indeed Swift and Miller are FAs in 04 I would offer 1 the MCE, than if matched I would offer the 2nd the MCE. Worst case scerario is we don't get either but make sure a division rival has to pay to keep their players, maybe we could land one of them though.
Swift has so much athletic ability it's not even funny. He's got that EXPLOSION to the rim that Griffin either lacks, or has not showed yet. Don't get me wrong, Griffin is quite athletic and he is a quick leaper, but Swift is just on another plateau. Swift still has a ways to go to develop his skills, but with the type of athletecism that he possesses, the sky really is the limit for him.
Griffin's shot blocking ability has been sorely lacking recently. He needs to put in that extra number of blocks ....sayyy 2 at least to help Rox push their total to 6 to 8 per game which has been statistically proven to be a somwhat major game/s winning factor I see Swift getting 2 a game...easy
