Muslims are crazy and they just killed 10 of their own people in China. 'Terrorist attack' involving axes, knives kills 21 in China This is how western media said when terrorism happened at the right place: look at the title, look at the tone... truly disgusting.
At this point in time, I agree. The Muslim faith seems to provide a lot of motivation for this sort of activity. Hopefully, that will change, a la Christianity.
The Quran is somewhat contradictory on the issue of non-Muslims/foreigners: it calls Christians "people of the book," yet it also calls foreigners "infidels." It does not take much interpretation to realize that the Quran encourages these radicals, and they have the proof to back up their jihad. In my opinion, Christianity is not the same way. Most Christians are followers of Jesus. Jesus never led people into battle, as Mohammed did in Mecca and Medina.
Lets me reiterate a couple points that I have made. Obama and Bush are not bombing other countries in the name of Christianity. I am not sure where you are going with this. There are nations that are ruled by Sharia Law that will execute people for simply breaking moral code. In the US, if you break a law in the name of religion and try to seek refuge behind your religious belief, you are going to face the punishment. This is not so in Muslim ruled countries. There is a difference between speaking hatred and going in a middle of a crowd and setting off bombs. If you can't make that distinction, then I should not continue further. I am sure you can find a few Christians of have committed murder in the name of God/Christ, whether they are shootings abortion doctors or whatever. These are extremely rare cases. On the other hand, Muslims are killing in the name of the religion nearly everyday in some form. Who do you think Homeland Security is monitoring more? Christian Extremist, Americans motivated by politics or Muslims?
I don't think you get it. Christians in Africa use brutality against Muslims. Heck, the guy who used child soldiers claimed to be a Christian. (Recall Rush Limbaugh attacking Obama for wanting to go after him lol!) You also act like Christianity doesn't have a history of killing people for moral reasons. The Middle East is a region caught up in war, ruled by dictatorships, poor civic institutions and low standards of living relative to the West. Add to that a history of colonialism, perpetual presence of foreign troops, foreign countries milking them for their wealth, etc. The religion is not the reason for their violence, it's just the excuse. Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not justifying them or excusing them. These terrorists are horrible human beings committing atrocious acts that have no justification.
#1 not really sensitive, just absurd that you target one group then spend more time admitting others are equally culpable but hey... Lets just target one group. Personally while I have issues with the Catholic Church, the fact Hitler grew up Catholic does not mean he was a Catholic nor Christian as an adult. #2 Hitlers opinion of Christianity by 1941 is vastly different than in the 1930's. He made a number of direct statements against Christianity later in his life. Not sure why it matters... Hitler could be Catholic, Muslim or Baptist and it wouldn't change my opinion of his denomination or faith or of him as a person.
Islam was around for thousands of years, yet no one would have made this topic 30 years ago. So you're basing your entire premise on that past .045% (Lets say 25 years) of the religion's history? Just cause one era of a religion's followers misinterpret the religion itself, does not mean anything. I don't see any topics toward Christianity for a small group that set human rights and equality back years. I read hundreds of threads on these boards that are filled with "knee jerk", yet I think this thread is the biggest knee jerk of them all.
Here is something that confuses me about the left's view on Muslims.....Muslims are completely against homosexuality and women's rights. The left is completely for these 2 issues and are passionate about them, yet the left doesnt really criticize Islam in the media, about these 2 issues, or anything else really.
Simply not true. Iran's leader got crushed for saying there were no gay people in Iran. The fact is Muslims have no sway to the legality of gay marriage in this country. They're not the ones preventing it here. In addition, there's been a dramatic push to educate women in Afghanistan. It's been a gigantic tool in trying to modernize their society. You don't talk about gay marriage in a country where listening to music or not wearing a hijab can get you killed. There are a lot of things higher on the pecking order.
Collateral damage. Haha. That's the invented phrase to desensitize the killing of civilians. 400,000 dead Iraqis? Simply collateral damage.
um what No. But if you want a more elaborated answer, just because liberals are against fanning the flames and fears of an entire religion that lead to a cycle of war and death from "ethical" nations killing thousands of civilians as "collateral" (because really, you just need to tell a grieving father you didn't mean to kill his family, they were "collateral"), doesn't mean that liberals can't think beyond one dimension, and disagree sharply with abuses against homosexuals and women in the Middle East.
I sometimes wonder why the f**k people can't understand the level of anger. It's almost like they think "others" can't think like they do. If some foreign government killed your family by "accident", and called it "collateral", I don't understand how in the f**k that is supposed to make anyone feel better. Let's get real. "We didn't intend to kill your family, but for all intents and purposes, we're here for ambiguous reasons and the chances you and everything you love will die increases exponentially with us around. By the way, sorry about the accidental killings of civilians/drones targeting first responders/sporadic cases of intentional murder a la Kill Team/torture prison network we set up in your country. Have a Big Mac on the house!" "Oh, okay!" This is a very legitimate source of anger, and dissociating responsibility for this only makes the problem worse. There are legitimate grievances to be made here. I deplore the violence some use to address these grievances in the harshest terms as continuing this vicious cycle, but I also condemn those who choose to ignore or not to care about what should be a very obvious truth. Imagine your loved ones dead at the hands of a foreign government. Then "they" decided to absolve themselves of responsibilities since it was an accident. How would you feel? America decided to bomb the s**t out of a country after 3,000 died intentionally. Even if you think "accidental death" is somehow on a lesser scale, where does the anger for thousands of dead innocent civilians go?
