There was one possession where he drove it into the lane against 2 OKC defenders and floated up an airball. If he didn't feel ready, he should just play faciliator instead of penetrator. Brooks not being totally ready is fine, but when he basically gives the ball back to the Thunder, that deserves criticism.
We should play Harden at PG when Beverley needs a rest. I don't want to see Brooks on the floor ever again.
Brooks did ok other than the one floater, he had a nice drive and dish. He barely played, would have liked to see him get a little burn and hit some of those 3s that we bricked tonight. DD
Knee-jerk reaction much? He played 4 minutes. I still believe AB can be that guy that dominated the playoffs a few years back. Glad he may finally get his chance, he's always been one of my favorite players.
Where Linsanity happened Kidding aside, I always complained how McHale never gave AB a few minutes every night after his signing, to bring him into the system. He could well be our energy spark from the bench. But now in playoffs, Lin got hurt, Beverly got 4th foul, he expected AB to contribute right away?
If I recall correctly - correct me if I'm wrong - Brooks was in there without Harden for much of his time. He was like the sole creator out there. I want to see him in there with Harden and/or even Lin, so he can benefit from the attention given to them. I hope McHale gives him some more opportunities.
Brooks obviously does not know McHale's playbook. Harden ran the point for most of the 3rd when Brooks came in. When Brooks was given the chance, turnover.
I actually think he was with Harden most of the time. I remember because Harden picked up Westbrook because Brooks was too small. James came out at the end but I think for the majority of the time they were playing together. Would love to see more Brooks action though.
Thanks for the correction. I guess Brooks was trying to do a little too much while Harden was in there. Would like to see him play off Harden a little more.
Brooks shot 46% from the field this year in crappy Sacramento. Very good for a point guard. I doubt his game just left him, AB didnt just all of a sudden turn into Scott Machado. His strength is hitting the deep ball, and quickness with the dribble. AB can still get past defenders almost at will. But even veterans can be rusty if they havent played in a while. Its just too bad that it happened in the playoffs. Can not have faith in his defense. But I can trust he can sink some baskets once he gets a decent feel (if he plays)
He could be useful but he did not impress in his limited time. Whoever he is guarding will score at will, but as long as he can have a positive impact on the offensive end either through scoring or creating, he is useful to us especially with Lin possibly missing the next game. We've been terrible from 3pt land for a while now, Brooks may be able to sink a few for us.
And the lesson here is that next time you need insurance, go to GEICO or State Farm rather than the Guangdong Southern Tigers.
I really don't want to see him play again. He had one failed-ISO and one turn over with less than 5 minutes, nothing more.
Perhaps. But isn't the whole point of spending $2.5M (for only part of the season) on a veteran backup PG instead of, say, D-League star Andrew Goudelock, that the vet is more likely to be ready when he needs to be thrown into the fire?
The Rockets don't have minutes to give to get guys acclimated. We need those minutes to try to win games. On top of that, we had to search for a PF after the trade.
