After a horrible first 2 and a half quarters where Minnesota couldn't miss a shot and we couldn't make one, you have to love the way the team responded. The defense was weak at the start, and we did turn it over a lot, but most teams would roll over and die down 26 late in the 3rd. We almost came back and won it. Great effort and intensity by all the Rockets, and it really impressed me tonight. I know we're fixing to get flooded with posts saying we're lottery bound, but I don't think so. The mental errors such as missed free throws will subside. It wasn't a win, but it was a good sign. GO ROCKETS!

Comebacks are great and all except you think the Twolves didn't switch off a tad in the second half. Game was over at half time, second half was irrelevant.

I guess our Cat should be known for his quickness as well. Man, you posted like seconds after the game ended. [IMG]

Well, I wasn't able to see the game but I think it's definitely positive to see that our Rockets didn't fold after being down 26 (!).

How did they look out there? It seems like Cato will need to do some work if he's going to lead the league in rebounding.

Maurice only got three boards, but did get his points which is not surprising.

Why did Dream only play 8 minutes?

Dream honestly did not look at good out there. Very slow on the defensive rotations. The stats on Cato and Taylor, esp. Cato, are very misleading. In the 4th quarter Cato became inspired in the rally effort, and he was a force. He was all over the glass, grabbing boards on both ends of the floor, and also swatted at least two shots. If he played like that all the time, he could be one of the top 7-8 centers in the game.

Yeah, I really think Rockets could have something going here. At start defense was bad and they couldn't hit a shot while T-Wolves shot the lights out in the first half and the start of the second. But this teams never give up, and the defense will get better, they will shot better, but they really need to cut down on the turnovers and hustle for rebounds.

T-Wolves might have switched off a tad in the second half but I think mostly was Rockets doing in both halfs - they couldnt do anything right in the first half and thus giving it easy for Wolves. Second half was way better, and even Cato who did nothing through 3 quarters showed up in the end.

Ace - I think Dream played more than 8 minutes - I found that you cant trust the early stats when minutes are concerned.

According to the ESPN box score, Cato had 1 block. Can this be right, is the ESPN box score accurate? It has Williams with 3 blocks! Since when did Wiz have any ups at all?!

Dream played very little time. Cato looked awesome too me as he was blocking, and snagging rebounds. A few years back we had the problem of starting out good and not being able to close out the game. Now it's we start out bad, and we really come to life in the second half. A pretty good loss, they should'nt be dissapointed. Mo T was doing good too but he just couldn't handle KG. I think Rudy should've thrown out Keem to gaurd KG at times. He would've at least had maybe a little advantage in height and he would contest the shot. Mo was just standing there getting backed in trying to stop KG. That's frightning. I want no more of that. Directly from Espn.com Recap:
Hakeem Olajuwon, playing in his record 17th season with the same NBA franchise, played 18 minutes and had only four points and six rebounds.

    -------

There's your official playing time figures for Dream folks. Congrats to Hakeem for setting that record. It's another one to add to his list.

a lot of bad...i still like it....I want KT. Bullard shouldn't play unless we run double picks for him...ugh. I want KT.

    quick positive of the game???

we only shot 9 3ptrs. Man...I love that. Get rid of old rudy ball even further. Maybe soon Mobley and Francis don't miss as easy shots.

Got to like the fact we had so many easy shots though.

    The Cat,

    Rockets R' Us,

Revisionist history 8 and 22 minutes respectively after the fact, WOW!

From what I saw, Hakeem played well. He didn't shoot particularly well, but he ran well and did not look winded. He looked quick and alert on the court.

Cato on the other hand played four more minutes than Dream and ended up with three fewer rebounds.... hmmmm Also, if the ONE block he had is a swat fest, then you're gonna be very happy with his production. Meanwhile, if he doesn't improve, I won't.

If he played well all the time, I would chew my left arm off at the elbow. By the way, what make you think he was playing well? Was it all the rebounds that he let fly by him? Was it the terrible defense I saw him play? Was it his total non-existence before there was 7 minutes left to play?

    ---------------------
    heypartner,

While shooting a ton of 3-pters is not always a good sign, did you see how many 3's Francis, Moochie, and Mobley passed up? I was screaming for them to take the three.

Twice in the 4th quarter Steve passed up a three, then proceeded to turn it over on one and charge on the other. Poor, poor decisions if you ask me.

I just wish Walt was in the game near the end. He could have opened up the lanes for Steve and especially Mobes. I'm not antiRudy, but his rotation sure could have been better tonite. If Garnett is sitting down he should have brought in Maurice for atleast a little while.
Also Steve is hesitant on shooting those 2 wide open threes late in the game. I mean he has a wide open three and he elects to drive in and turn it over.

Question: Why can't a young team play great defense all game long? Fourth quarter was great, but 1-3 were perhaps the worst defensive quarters I have ever seen. If we can not stop the bloody T-wolves, how the hell will we stop the Bucks???

Also, where was Dream in the fourth??? We need to give the greatest center of all time some more minutes, and many more touches. I would take a Dreamshake over a Mobley brick any day of the week. Francis is not ready to fully take over this team. From what I saw tonight, Hakeem is still very much capable of being a force. He just needs to get the ball. I'm not saying 25 shots, but he really needs to be made into more of a factor,
Finally, what was with that second quarter lineup? Mooch is great and all, but he really should not be playing so much.
Hakeem had better get 30 minutes on Thursday, or the Rockets will be off to another horrible start.

ZRB were u watching the same game as the rest of us?
Hakeem was getting schooled by some white boy on the defensive end. While I agree he needs to be a better part of the offense, he did nothing tonite to deserve that.
As for Mobes bricking, if it wasnt for him tonite we would have lost by like 40. He was the only reason we got back in the game.

The scouting reports from this game on the Rockets is to collapse on Hakeem if he gets the ball in the post. It will be an automatic turn over. He wasn't holding onto to the ball, and only once did he complete an offensive move that he started. The other times he would change positions once like he was getting reading for an old pump fake and then change his mind (too late) and turn it over due to a double team.

The only move he seems to be able to execute is the fadeaway. His up and under, and his dunks (things to do in heavy traffic) are non-existent.

Give Dream 10 games to get his game back & I think everyone will be impressed. Don't forget that Dream missed a few preseason games & hasn't played any significant minutes for quite some time.

Cato showed a little flash of what he can do towards the end of the game, but I still saw that he was unable to find the handle on the ball, even when he was directly under the basket & the ball hit him in the hands. I'll give him 10 games also, before drawing a conclusion.

I wonder why the Rockets didn't go to MO more often? After all, he was the hottest player on the court early in the game. Maybe, if Garnett would've had to guard him, it would've lowered Garnett's offensive impact just a little. Oh well, I can't wait until the next game to see what adjustments they make.
