Clutchfans has said all of the above at different points. However the vitriol for Mchale seems much worse than for any of the others. Or maybe "McFail" just sounds meaner and more juvenile than "Van Grumpy" and "Get Riddy Rudy".

Adelman playing Yao almost 40 minutes per game ruined his career. Had his best seasons under Adelman though.

Coaches always get the blame.... some sort of human nature. Kinda like we blame presidents for things out of their control.

After Yao's first year, I thought we had the second coming of Avydas Sabonis. JVG turned him into the power player that is out of the league today.

Imagine the fallout on the board if Coach McHale ever did the same to Lin.

I'm one of he biggest Yao fans ever but China screwed him up by not letting him rest during the summer. Yes we agreed to it but it was a bad idea.

    Yeeeah

You weren't here, you didnt have to read poster after poster whining about how JVG was gonna kill Yao making him play down low and not letting him use his strengths(money jumper from mid-range, good vision and passing instincts) and operate out of the high post.

JVG caught much hell from the fans who were future denizens of yaomingmania

I swear, you new fans need to quit pretending like you know anything about the Rockets prior to 2012, it's very obvious to those of us who have *actually* followed every move for years and years.

Just dont say anything...if you dont actually know anything there is no shame in staying out of the conversation.

    I went JVG - McGrady

Not because I didn't support JVG, but because his style wasn't preferable for an elite high volume wing scorer. All things considered, I was always impressed with how he was able to score in our system.

Just imagine what a prime T-Mac would have done in this offense!

Yeah, I did too. When Adelman came here, I told people Yao was going to win MVP, because I thought Yao was going to get to play in the high post like Divac. Never did happen that way. I guess Yao was too slow or something.

Blame players, not coaches as far as performances.

Forget the yao fans, the vitriolic assault on JVG for the likes of below avg players like Nachbar, Vspan, Luther Head makes the anti-mchale threads appear loving. Some posters (including 99ers) accused JVG of personal animosity against Nachbar and Vspan, that he deliberately sought to impede their careers lol.

McGrady's favorite offense was him holding/dribbling the ball and then either passing to a shooter or shooting it himself. He would have been terrible in an up-tempo offense like this one and was terrible in a passing offense like Adelman's.

I actually blame the Chinese National Team for Yao's health issues at the tail end of his career due to them having him carry their team during summer competitions so much.

Don't really blame McHale yet for any player on our roster, I do blame him for Patrick Patterson developing the way he did.

To be fair tmac was incredible in JVG's system and remember he actually played well during the 1st year of the Adelman era. He started the season with 47 in Utah and 30 in los angeles.
