Warriors' Owner on Cutting Jeremy Lin

I think it is his shaky/confidence in his shot that is the big problem. What we don't know is he truly has the green light or not, or if it is just a figment of his imagination that he should stop shooting when he misses a couple or will get pulled. I tend to think that it is in his mind, but he has always been a confident player, so it really confuses me. Maybe he is just overthinking things. I never see Bradon Jennings, Westbrook, Wall or other PGs hesitate when they have a shot. Being too unselfish is not a good thing. Even in the last game when he was in the lane on the fastbreak, he tried a tough dumpoff instead of a finish in the last game. Hopefully it will all improve with experience.

If he shoots confidently and has more of a strut about him, it will give others more confidence in him as well.

 

Lin would be the 3rd string PG behind Jarett Jack if he was on GS.

Warriors have more collective talent than us with Curry, klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, David Lee, even Andrew bogut.

 

I love how after one bad game some people cant even see him being in the league after his contract is up. That's ridiculous. First of all, he can shoot. His shot has improved greatly and he just had a bad night in game 1. Second, not deserve to be in the NBA? There are some pretty bad guards in the NBA who still have a roster spot. At the very least I can see him becoming a great backup. But I dont think thats the case because I believe Houston will sign him to a similar if not bigger contract after 2 years and I think he'll be a borderline all star.

 

So the decision was between cutting Curry or cutting Lin?

Pretty sure they could have had both.

 

I don't see a lot of difference in their numbers. Both Curry and Jack are shooters. You don’t think Curry, Clay, and Jack could benefit from Lin’s dribble drive especially they run multiple screen plays each possession? Also min wage is always a big +.

 

I would not bench Curry.

GS got better because of other players, other moves. Giving away Lin's talent for a roster spot is not the move that caused their improvement. Is Lin better than GS's 15 man at the time he got cut? Lin could have been kept, sent to D League, and then traded for draft picks at a minimum.

 

I wonder if their fans would fight and argue over Lin the way we do? Probably so. I bet every where Jeremy went fans were divided.

 

Lin would never had gotten a chance had the warriors kept him. He was extremely lucky to have landed in Ny but he had to perform too. It wasnt all luck

 

I cannot say much warrior, but for the Knicks, they have a new coach that designed a system that works for the players. A coach that always take blame for losses and gave his players credit for the wins. Coach WOodson also runs the league oldest team.

 

You are right. Lin was shredded in GS, especially with the amount of racial remarks. Clutchfans has been mild in comparison (other than some game threads at times). Chalk it up to the higher quality moderation here (Good job, Clutch) or higher quality posters on the forum. Some of the nasty trolls here seem to have NY roots.

 

Warriors have a bright future because Barnes, Thompson, and Curry are all young and improving. Don't think they care about Lin anymore.

I think Jeremy Lin needs to say "**** this, I need to play my own brand of basketball, if I go down, I at least go down doing it my way". The last time that happened, Linsanity 1.0.

We might see it tonight. If not, game 3 I reckon.

 

Dude could be over coached with invisible handcuffs. Just let the PG play his role and see what happens. Not "rocket science".

 

I don't understand this hypothetical world where Lin stays on Golden State buried on the bench as the third string PG AND SIMULTANEOUSLY demonstrates to the world that he is a badass future superstar.

The point the Warriors owner is making is that even if they had held on to Lin, they already have a guy who plays 40 minutes a night at a vastly superior level to Lin, and several guys ahead of him who are either as good as Lin straight up or at least, better complements to Curry than Lin. So accordingly, the value add that Lin would offer to the current warriors squad is minimal.

I see nothing wrong with this line of reasoning, and despite the best efforts of LOFs - I still don't.

Now please pipe down and worry about the Rockets playoff series, which is ongoing.

It looks as if Lin is going to be our PG of the future unless Chris Paul miraculously leaves LA or some other superstar PG becomes available to take our max money.

Either I'm a traditionalist or the Steve Francis era has scarred me, but I like a PG that takes care of the ball and plays efficient, smart basketball.

Lin has one quality that has the potential to set him apart and let him flourish - ability to penetrate and finish. If he can develop his shot and the rest of his game in ways similar to the growth that Tony Parker, Steve Nash, and Jason Kidd did throughout their careers he has a chance to be a consistently very good PG in this league.

 

Are you serious? The Warriors has a top 5 talented rosters in the league. They just need some luck to stay healthy.

 

Lin had an excellent first step, but when you break down his skills, that's essentially all he has.

He's quick, but force him left and he's much less effective. If he could play like a Tony Parker and probe in the lane at will I would be fine with that. But he doesn't probe the lane at all and often times gets stuck in the paint with no idea what to do.
