Just look at the difference on this BBS between the threads on Boston and West. Most of the people here are from TX and they're taking a greater interest in the Boston attack.
Also .. . I think if the locations of the events were reversed I think Boston would still get more attention . . being on the East Coast at the end of the day none of it is about informing the public so much as advert dollars. Rocket River
Why is Waco not an attack on the state? This, along with various oil spills, other plant explosions, accidents due to shoddy construction, etc. basically reflects what the country cares about. You know, like making sure that everyone can buy guns on the internet without telling people who they are. It might not be as sexy as a terrorist attack, but as a citizen of the US it's no less painful. In fact, one may say it's more dangerous because terrorist attacks make up a much smaller percentage of injuries/deaths in the US than many other domestic failings of our own country.
I think it's more due to the size of cities. Boston is a major east coast city, while West is a small town in Texas. About as far as it goes
What I find repetitive are stories even on reputable news programs profiling and detailing the mind of the these numbnuts. I was never once the more enlightened when they carried the same **** for every other psycho in the past before and I sure as hell won't now. I get that people on the whole want to understand and rationalize a chaotic situation caused by a "rational" actor, but in the same theme of the thread, that fertilizer plant could happen even more with the piss poor enforcement of our national infrastructure. So many different ways to live in fear, yet the real things that can affect us, we shrug and leave up to God.
