How did he brainwash her?

 

I don't know if we have enough information to definitely say she was brainwashed. However we can say she hitched herself to a loser. She worked 80 hours a week while he sat on his ass. He was physically abusive to women and had anger issues. Lets not forget he left his wife and child to go to Russia for 6 months.

He was a grade "A" loser.

 

Which makes her a bigger loser.

Can't copy and paste it all cause I am on my phone, but cops are investigating the older brother and his connection to a triple homicide a couple years ago.

 

I read this yesterday. I'm not sure how much of a case evidentially that they have.

 

So, how would a lawyer argue this case? My guess for the Defense Attorney opening statement:

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a controlling, abusive father figure to his younger brother Dzhokhar. A well-liked personable young man away from his brother, Dzhokhar became a submissive victim around his brother. Tamerlan planned the attacks and forced Dzhokhar to participate against his wishes. Dzhokhar carried the bomb to the site, but did not want it to go off and had no intentions of triggering the explosion. The moments before the explosion he was pleading with his brother to not go through with it. Tamerlan exploded his bomb and then exploded the second one via remote. Dzhokhar was in shock as you can see him running away from the site, trying to escape away from his brother. It is telling he went to his college room and stayed there instead of to Tamerlan's apartment.

When the video was released, Tamerlan convinced Dzhokhar to flee with him. Dzhokhar had no idea what Tamerlan had planned. Tamerlan shot the MIT police office as Dzhokhar looked on in horror. Dzhokhar tried to escape at the convenience store after Tamerlan carjacked the Mercedes, but his brother knew he was having doubts and followed him towards the store to make sure Dzhokhar did not run, allowing the carjacked Mercedes owner to escape instead.

During the shootout, Tamerlan was clearly the aggressor and while Dzhokar shot just enough to show his older brother he was part of the effort, he intentionally missed police officers. When Tamerlan threw the bomb and charged the police barricade, leaving Dzhokhar alone, he panicked, jumped in the Mercedes and just wanted to get away from everything, as he drove not towards policemen, but the opening in the barricade.

Tired, wounded, hungry, thirsty, he curled up in a boat to die. After he was discovered, a toxic combination of loss of blood, lack of food and water, fatigue, and fear led him to shoot blindly out of the boat. When he summoned his last bit of remaining strength and finally recognized what was going on, he surrendered peacefully.

Dzhokhar was under the sway of a horrible man and made some horrible choices because of it. Those choices led to several crimes. However, he is not a killer and does not deserve the death penalty.

 

You plea bargain to the charge of life in prison without parole. You tell your client that he has 65 years left to live, and that he can still have a quality life behind bars. It is unlikely that he ever goes to trial. To entice the prosecution you agree to have your client cooperate completely.

 

This is what you do.

 

Would one rather have the death penalty then spend 50+ years in prison? I know I would.

 

You say that now.... but from experience I can tell you most people in that position will take 65 years in prison. The survival instinct is strong.

 

I feel pity for the kid.

 

I asked a coach/fighter from that school about this incident. I'm curious what his response will be. He is the one quoted in the story and he posts on mixedmartialarts.com.

 

Hmmm, 50-60 years in a concrete cell in a supermax prison, seeing nobody but prison guards.

I think it safe to say most folks would find a way to deal with sitting in a concrete cell.

 

I'm not even sure why she, an intelligent All American girl, stuck with him. Really don't get it. Was she THAT clueless about her husband's extracurricular activities?

You know what? I kinda feel the same thing and it's weird. Not saying that he is innocent, though. He participated in this and killed people, especially a kid. On the other hand, I def don't feel pity for the older brother. It's odd.

 

Oh, I'm trying to figure out how he could have gotten out of the boat to surrender if he shot himself in the mouth.

 

I understand the pity and I wouldn't condemn it, but I don't feel it for the kid myself. It helps that I knew someone in the race and someone under lockdown in Watertown, probably.

But this kid set aside a lot of basic human decency to do what he did, no matter the influences. There are just not many 19-yr-olds capable of this, IMHO. Doing dumb things? Sure. Killing and maiming hundreds of strangers? Um, no.

 

Has this been confirmed? I heard that was their guess because he had a neck wound, but maybe it happened another way? Could have just been bad aim on his part though, i believe there is technically enough space to take a bullet there and survive. Depends on the type of gun too, IIRC.

 

I agree with you. I guess that he's just so young and can't understand why a kid would carry this out. WTF went wrong? Like you said, not many 19 yr olds do this.

I'm not sure. I keep reading that it was a self inflicted gun wound. Maybe he just didn't know how to kill himself properly! Why mouth instead of the head?
