The LOFs you described are very few, I am not sure if you can name 5 of them.

Also the perception that LOFs flooded this board is a pure Fabrication. If anyone feels that there are too many 2012ers that's because the "older" members are too lazy to post.

If you look at the member ID#,there are less than 4000 new registers in the past 9 months after Jemery Lin signed with the Rockets, pretty much on path with in the past.

I believe there are many people signed because of Lin, but the same is true for other members. Most people probably signed on for a specific reason. Lin fans are no different.

Another thing that Lin fans is passionate in defending their idol because some LOHs or some people just want to make fun of Lin fans. LOF is an unfair term forcefully put on people who like Lin. It is not mutually exclusive to be a player fan and a team fan. Some people are team 1st and players 2nd, some people will follow their star anywhere. But majority people would be intelligent enough to know their favored players are judged not by their stats but by their achievements, which is win.

    Anyway, great OP.

Who actually IS as athletic as Westbrook? ... Wall? Since when is 7/15 torching someone? Westbrook looks amazing when he attacks the rim, makes you forget all the pull up j's he missed.

Lin fans need to understand that every teams' fans get on a certain player when he doesn't perform up to par. Knick fans curse out Felton and J.R. when they chuck up bad shots and play like scrubs. Boston fans regularly maligned Jeff Green and his 10 million contract until his recent stretch of decent play. Hell, Raptors fans spat on Jose Calderon every game he played despite the fact that he was scoring on 50-40-90 efficiency and was statistically the most impactful player on their team for years.

I understand the impulse to protect your favorite player, but the fact of the matter is that Lin is often prone to spurts of terrible production and he deserves to be criticized for it. Yes, some of the criticism can harsh, but that's the nature of sports fandom -- if you can't stand hearing it go to jeremylin.net where everyone has the same opinion.

Well it goes both ways... critics also needs to understand that if you criticize a player, his fans will come up and defend him... that is also another side of being a sports fan. ;)

He earns 5 million but it counts as 8 million against the cap this year. Since we have free cap room, the hit this year doesn't really matter. If he doesn't improve much next season in this system then you can say he is overpaid but if he plays at an all star level next season people are going to forget this season even happened.

Attacks Lin for no reason? The guy literally turned the ball over the FIRST play of the game. He deserves alot of the criticism he gets.

a person is either fast or slow- speed is not exclusive to a particular ethnicity. people use the word 'deceptive' because when watching it from tv, the camera cuts out the environment and makes it difficult to reference Lin's movement against another object or person. Anywho, he is already the fastest player on the rockets in terms of acceleration speed.

You fail to recognise the core skills Lin has- driving and dishing well is merely one of the outcomes of utilising that skill(s). Superior court vision and basketball intelligence should be the primary focus, and why these skills or talents are so valued is because the they can't be easily taught or improved upon, whereas shooting or even dribbling handles can be practised and enhanced over time.

Also I like that many complain about Lin's salary, then state that he is simply a marketing ploy to draw sales and build the rockets brand. This is in itself is silly, because based on financial terms he is a great investment that will provide massive returns. Where do you think the money comes from to cover operating expenses, provide for the players and build reserves to attain better assets?

Yes, Lin has been overhyped by many, but your considerably insidious and bias opinion of him is not accurate. He is by no means top 10 PG material, and people shouldn't attach the word 'elite' when describing him; but he is far and wide, one of the more valuable PGs to have in the league (from a business as well as basketball perspective). Only a fool will not concede that fact.

Your knee-jerk reaction is uncalled for, maybe think before you post next time.

Dilemma: Country club feels pity for LoFs. And while they pat each other on the back while repping each other repeatedly, just what will Lin fans do?
Solution: Continue to be his fan? Yup. LOL.

Just when will the haters get it that you will never convince Lin fans to not be his fans?
And similarly, when will Lin fans get it that nothing you say will convince anyone to like him? Even if you sound really reasonable, you will be considered a dumb minion.

This is a provocative thread designed to mock and be mocked (and to get reps from other haters). I'm ashamed I joined in. Must get out now...

I don't think it's that people are trying to convince Lin's fans not to be his fans. People are trying to get Lin's fans to realize that, as of right now, he's not a superstar and probably will never be a superstar no matter who's coach or who's playing with him.

Surely your "reasonable" response will include editing your signature? He failed by every metric you laid out. Can he improve? Yes. Is he an above-average PG at the moment? No.

That sounds like the Garden of Eden compared to reality.

And probably? It's the future, none of us sure about it.

tell that to some posters on this forum. they believe lin will for certain improve from an average starting PG into a super star and that anyone that doesn't believe in this development roadmap either 1) don't understand basketball or 2) are just plain dumb

lol people used phrase deceptive speed because they didnt expect lin to have such a quick first step. NOW lets not act like the guy has blazing speed or he is one of the fastest in the league. westbrook has BLAZING speed, also speed is nothing without elite dribblingl skills, which lin doesnt have and at this stage cant be developed. we saw him get stripped so many times on sunday, he even dribbled off his own foot, got trapped becaused he has subpar handles.. lin has a quick first step that many didnt expect but is nothing that cant be checked and kept under control by opposing defenses.. now im not going to waste time with the rest of your post its just more LOF blah blah.. the second morey finds a willing partner to unload lin onto the trigger will be pulled and no more LOFs on CF.. cant wait.. hardly knee-jerk, didnt liek he signing when it happed, dont like it now..
