Hey guys, did you realize that we play two bad teams coming up in a row? The L.A. Clippers and the Chicago Bulls. This should be a cakewalk for the Rockets. If we can come out on top in both games, we'll be on a pretty good roll (4 games in a row!) We will also inch closer to the playoffs! Man, this is great. Come on Rockets, pull these victories out of the bag and become playoff material like in those great times of the 90's!

It might be possible to get Ginobili or Jaric because both the Spurs and Clipers have legitimate PGs. These two teams do not necessarily need a pass-first SG, but they do need their SG to score.

Mobley can score a bunch for these teams while Parker and Miller can set up plays for the team. As good as Ginobili or Jaric are, they are unproven that they can average 18 p/g. Mobley can come in and score 18 points/game, plus Mobley has a very good contract.

In a word, Mobley might fit better with the Spurs/Clippers while Ginobili or Jaric fit better with the Rox.

    HP,

I thought the only reason why Murphy played PG was because of his size. He was clearly a natural SG. I remember the dilemma he posed for the coaches. His size made him a PG which was supposed to pass the ball. But they wanted him to shoot whenever he could because he was such a great shooter.

heypartner - I agree with a lot of what u said in this post, but what you said here is a little simplistic and selfish don't you think? Are you saying that Francis is only suppose to make a change that could make him better if it only does wonders for Yao's game -- not his own? Wouldn't something that does wonders for Stevie's game be beneficial to Yao and the Rockets as a whole anyway? Yao has such great potential and has shown incredible talent that Yao's self-own improvement will be that in itself, y'know?

BTW, just my own opinion - although I would like to see HOU keep Francis as a PG to let him continue to develop with Yao (center and PG are most improtant pos), I think he would be a kick-ass SG. There are many ppl that feel he's a better overall player than Iverson -- y'know, minor stats like FG%, 3P%, REB, AST, FT%. I definitely think he could make the transition! :) What I question is Rudy T designing plays for him and Yao. Rockets don't run many plays for the perimeter players as is....just a lot of one-on-one...so it would be interesting to see how it works if Francis were to become a 'two'.

Some good thoughts in this thread, though.

Easy, I agree. Calvin was never a PG, who didn't slide over until a #1 pick PG came in. I don't see a John Lucas type coming here.

story_teller, I don't believe moving to SG for a middle class PG is good for Steve and the Rockets and Yao on all counts versus just trading him if he can't play PG. my stance is, keep him at PG or trade him...I don't think he'll succeed at SG better than his trade value will give us something in return.

    Reality,

If you play SG on offense you do not have to guard the SG on defense.

Steve, unless his defense improves greatly, will guard the opposing guard with the least offense.

So the guy opposite him needs to be a solid defender that has PG skills and some size to cover the larger guards.

The list of players that fit into this is very short.

    Payton
    Kidd
    Kobe
and maybe Arenas I'm not sure on his defense

The Rockets have a guard that covers all these areas but the PG skills his name is Cutino Mobley. He's a pretty good player that likes it here and has a cheap contract that pays him less than he's worth. Maybe he can work on his PG skills and the "fans" can stop trying to get rid of one of our assets.

Unless we can get one of the above players I don't see how we can upgrade our backcourt by adding a PG.
