Lin was really terrible, and he himself will probably admit it. Playoff jitters obviously, for anyone who has ever played, when you are tight and have butterflies before a big game, everything gets awry, the pace becomes too fast and you cannot play your normal game. The deer in headlights description by a previous poster is spot on. BUT.... almost everyone on the team was the same way. Lin's was more magnified because he was the PG but he definitely did not singlehandedly lose the game. If he had scored 18 pts with 8 assists, or if he had been benched the whole game, Houston would still have lost with the way OKC played and with the way all the Rockets played. so they've had their playoff taste, on to Game 2...
remember Lebron James only scored 8 points in playoff 2011? and that game was not his first playoff game.
It does not matter, Lin has to have 18&8 every game or he's a sham. In fact, it doesn't even matter how he plays. He's a sham regardless the next time he has a bad game.
Lins offense was trash, couldnt by a jumper for his living. passing was quite bad,too. but OKc allways fouled him when they werent in the penalty which i think they never were the whole evening... also they packed the paint with Perkins and Iblocka so you cant really go for the finish or its really difficult. Lin should have tried to attack them more, though. i mean he was really bad yesterday and his confidence didnt seem to be there. but that goes for al Rockets player even Harden. It´s because the Offense looked even more clueless and random than in the regular season. no real spacing, the Bigs didnt get themselves in position and were just destroyed by Ibaka Perkins and even freaking Collison... everytime Lin had the ball at the top of the key, the wing players didnt move at all and just stood at the 3pt-Line and the bigs neither set screens nore got themselves in postions for a pass.it is mind boggling to me why the rockets dont seem to set any screens often for more than 10 minutes????? Why is that? oh i know, its McHales idea of an offense. it´s a really bad idea though...whatever Lin should have done more even under the bad circumstances, at least hit some of his shots. but u guys need to calm down. first playoff game in OKC and your offense looks totally clueless and doesnt move off the ball. and he plays the PG postion AND has the hyperactive freak Westbrook on his ass. give him a break. no excuses, but a break. Asik played at least as bad couldnt catch anything, made lethargic mistakes as losing an inbound pass etc. Parsons was even worse. his shot was completely off, he looked like his confidence was even lower than lins but demanded the ball many times. whenever he tried to create for other he just took time of the shot clock and didnt to ANYTHING worthy. zero assists. when he tried to create for himself, usally a brick or a blocked shot happened. Harden was slightly better than the rest, but 6/19? hero ball against his old team who know many of his tricks? such useless turnovers when he randomly ran into guys and hoped for a foul which they never call in the playoffs. and ill advised step back jumpers which he didnt hit for month and off balanced 3 pointers with still 10 seconds on the shot block? come on man he was freaking bad, too yesterday. The worst though was Gregory freaking Smith. he was so bad i couldnt believe it. he postet up like a noob without any chances against their bigs got manhandled on offense and defense and turned it over a few times. he was just non-existend. crazy that they kept Isoing him in the post quite often.... Tjones HAS to start next game. At least he has a little shot blocking, can finish strong as well and has some kind of midrange game. The whole team defense was non existend. that was just pathetic. Zero blocks i think? lmao. they have to make huge adjustments for the next game on many things, but McHale wont do it. dont u guys think he looked kind of lost yesterday??? he had a strange facial impression on the bench and looked real sad. normally i really really dont like him but yesterday i felt a little sorry for the guys. maybe he realised that his system is totally useless in the Playoffs... Either way, Lin was bad yesterday but all other Rockets were just as bad or worse exept maybe Harden and Patbev( Bev got BURNED a few times on Defense though). Yesterday i was really angry because of all the Lin hate but i still like the Rockets. just not Moreyball and the coaching staff... lets face it, rockets wont go anywhere under mchale and sampson. isnt sampson the defensive coach? the **** is he doing during training sessions?
