ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Thunder 4/21/2013 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 1)

The hate is strong on this board tonight .lol
They need to get back to the basic drive ,dish if its not there swing it around . A lot of mistakes witch was to be expected . They looked scared ,unsure and lacked confidence . I would like to see brooks more . Over all though it feels great to be back in the playoffs and all the experience there getting against the number one team is just incomparable. There young I hope this was a wake up call and on to game 2 Let's go ROCKETS !!!

 

Now that the jitters are out, lets play ball. Game 2 son.

 

I didn't say I thought it was funny. I was in those diversity discussion and we were talking about how much we love seeing players of all different heritages all in the mix. Most teams aren't built like that in the NBA.

Hence, I understand where the poster got the euphemism from. I'm sorry if I offended you.

 

I remember back when we were in the hunt for 6th place, some people actually wanted to lose on purpose so we'd avoid the Nuggets

What ever you say Mr.Leslie Alexander. You sounded like you are the owner of the team by saying so. I don't think Mr.Alexander would say such about him.

 

It's you who's making the excuses. Lin didn't play poorly because he was forced to play a role he can't do. He played poorly because when he had the ball in his hands he gave it to the opposing team for easy points. I'm a Lin fan, I'm following the Rockets because of him, but man is he disappointing me right now.

 

Can we stop the Greg Smith experiment at starting PF? Would like to see T-Jones in there.

Granted, I didn't expect the Rockets to win, but tonight's effort was just embarrassing.

 

Well, increasing the variance produced higher rewards, and higher risks too. But at this point, we are the dark horses, and have nothing to lose. The only way forward is to live and die by the 3.

smh at some of the responses in this forum. Coming into this game, I was having visions of the Portland Series in 2009. 4th vs. 5th seed, where the Rockets were the 5th seed. Portland was the up and coming team with Brandon Roy, on their first trip to the playoffs. Rockets had gone on a slide to fall to the 5th seed and were looking beatable. In Game 1, Portland had home court, the better seed, and most of the ESPN (Yes yes I know BSPN) commentators picking them to win. Literally the only thing the Rockets was superior veterancy.

And the Rockets won Game 1 by 27 points, and just made the Blazers look foolish and young. They went on to win the series 4-2.

I was sort of expecting a blowout. Was I hoping for better? Yes, but every damn young team goes through this, like clockwork.

In this one, the Rockets are 8th seed vs 1st seed, with no one in the world, even the more homerish of homers, expecting a series win.
Do I think the Rockets will make a 6 game series out of this, like the Blazers did? No, to be honest. But they're not the 4th seed with home court advantage, and they're younger than those Blazers were.

EDIT: And you know what? Same pattern in that Blazers Game 1. Every single Blazers player stunk up the court except Brandon Roy, who ended with a bad 21 points on 23 shots trying to carry his team. LaMarcus Aldridge went 3 of 12 for 7 points. The same Aldridge so many people want on this team now. Scola, who isn't exactly known for his defense, ate him alive on both sides of the floor. That's pretty much the same thing we got here. Harden with 20 points on 19 shots, every single other player looking like they shouldn't be in the NBA.

And the other player's turnovers, not getting back defensively, and rejected shots didn't lead to fast break baskets?
