Give the suns some credit, they are the reason we made the playoffs in the first place? You'd expect us to beat them twice when we won by default thanks to Jermaine O'neal.

That'll be tough because the West is so deep, but doable. It'll be a mult-year process and I hope people understand that. But the tentative outlook for the future is certainly bright. We had a shot at the 6th seed! That was virtually thought to be impossible prior to the season! This season was just really fun, for me at least.

Since Kobe went out, Pau Gasol's FG% has nosedived into the toilet

    Last 3 games 17/50...thats 34%

    vs SAS 3 for 17
    vs HOU 7 for 17
vs SAS today 7 for 16

Where has Clippy been all game? Any chance he's not around because the Lakers offense looked like trash without Kobe.

The Lakers are not better without Kobe. They might be better on defense, but they are not a better team without Kobe. It's just that simple.

all he shot against GS was long jumpers, they just went in, they've missed these last 3 games, because well, he's a mediocre long jumper shooter.

It really depends who their matchup is, for the Spurs, who have two great interior defenders, no Kobe means no chance, for someone like OKC or Denver, playing outside in, rather than inside out, just leads to the pace being ramped up and them being run off the court.

Not on defense either. Its just the Lakers matchup better than most teams do vs San Antonio. LAL just doesnt have enough firepower on offense to contend but defensively always done ok

cosign on this one. Their ball movement alone and insider scoring with Duncan over smith would have destroyed our young guys confidence

Yep, Duncan is still the best despite his age and Pop well nothing to criticise there.

Do you remember the great german national soccer teams? Those teams were boring as **** to watch, they rarely won games by scoring a lot of goals. But they were the best in the world. Why? Because they played within the system and outclassed their opponents through efficiency and structure.

That's the spurs, while i hate them being a rockets fan, I can admire them through a purely basketball perspetive. Their system just works. Case in point today. They dismantled a lakers team that while missed its HOF SG still had two elite big men, and a HOF point guard.

I love Nash here more than anyone else on this board ( I think he's the 2nd greatest PG ever behind Magic, though that doesn't count Oscar/Jerry and Paul will almost certainly pass Nash eventually), but Nash was garbage today. And it wasn't Spurs defense, Nash was missing a lot of very makeable shots. Seriously, don't act like the Lakers are actually a GOOD team without Kobe, especially on offense. This was not a good game offensively from the Spurs by any stretch of the imagination, and while their defense may be able to work against Gasol and Howard's offensive limitations, San Antonio very well could have lost if Kobe was playing today. They will lose to Denver and will be curbstomped by OKC if they play like this in future rounds.
