Sounds like we will target Pau or KG as opposed to Millsap or Josh Smith in the offseason. And then go after Lebron or Love in 2 years.
Q: How do you beat the Thunder? Morey: We need to change the game a little bit. We need to make it more of a random game. I don’t want to get in the details are on it. I don’t really want to answer that one. Obviously, I talked to the coaching staff. They’re a very good coaching staff. They don’t need me to develop game plans. Analysis says they are maybe the best team in the league. There’s not a lot of holes. They’re really, really good. It’s like when Pete Sampras was coming up. You hope to have a little synopsis of what they are good at and not so good at. For Sampras it said, ‘Good at serve, forehand, backhand and volley. For weakness, it said topspin lob. I think that’s Oklahoma City’s weakness: topspin lob. Good to hear that Morey actually talks to the coaches about game-time strategy vs a completely segregated approach. Kind of depressing that OKC's only weakness is compared to a relatively trivial shot in tennis... lol
We need a 6th man who is willing to be a 6th man who can come off the bench and light it up and I mean really light it up and he must also be able to play with Lin and harden who that person is idk but somebody like Jamal Crawford but younger somebody like Crawford or even Jason Terry or even how harden was with OKC that's the type of player we need in free agency
should be Jeremy Lin.... let a long distance threat start to spread the floor for Harden and let Lin come in and run Linsanity when Harden needs a breather, and the run em together to close the halves....
I think Trob is the one young player they want to really see what they have in him. He's the only pf on the roster with the ability to be a Allstar type pf on both sides of the ball. If you look at the stats the morey values (drawing fouls) on a per minute basis he is the 2nd best on the whole team. Not to mention he's the only big man we have that can create his own offense. Now he does need to work on shooting and finishing on his moves to the paint but I think that's something that he will get much better at. The guy has all the tools to be a 20 ppg guy in this league. We know he can rebound and be a menace on defense. I think to many ppl want to right him off for whatever reason but done remember that he's a rookie 5th pick in a very good draft. Players like him you have to let develop because if we just get rid of him and he turns out to be what many think he can be coming out of college the rockets look like morons. It's one thing for a guy like Tobias Harris to get traded and show promise but when you let the 5th pick in the draft go with out giving him more than 20 games you really have made a huge mistake.
Top spin lob is a great comparison for how we have to take high risk moves. It's an extremely difficult shot to pull off without the opponent smashing it back in you face. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/emPy439hmCQ#t=0m10s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I doubt Lakers will trade Pau. His contract is expiring and they need it off the book. Maybe Morey can work out a deal where Lakers can get that $19M off and some future picks+young talents. KG has a NTC on his contract. It's not up to Celtics to decide. I would love KG here and he would make us a contender even at 37. He will definitely bring us that toughness and championship experiences. I still believe Morey will go for Millsap/Smoove/Pau IF he can sign one to a contract that is favorable to us and easily movable in the future. Flexibility is the key to any Morey's future signings.
i think he's just saying OKC has no major weakness. topspin lobs aren't a major part of tennis like backhand, forehand, volleys, and serves, but it is a part of the game. you only hit it when your opponents are at the net.. but then again, you can hit passing shots too. it's like saying Harden's weakness is that he can't go right, but who cares because he beats you going left every time.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I know Morey knows way more than me, but just speaking from a fan's point of view I can't help but think that's such an exaggeration.
Pau will cost almost 40 million luxury taxes for the lakers. If they can't trade him to a team with cap room, they will amnesty him
I don't see what's laughable about that statement. Record-wise, they're second best. And they led the league in point-differential by a wide margin, playing in the tougher Western conference.
So, a player's success and the lack thereof when he is young are meaningful data in judging his chances for future success.
