If we can't get Howard, we have to at least try. Having him and asik would def solidify the front court. Besides no unrestricted bigs are on the market for a while. Guards are always plenty so you can't be picky.
I agree on the fact that Jefferson is a terrible defensive player. And he is a lot "older" than Howard. Because of Jefferson's injury, he just looks like an old, old man playing. Still....it would be kind of nice to have a post player of his skill level.
Howard went 6-15 and 4-10 from free throw line. He always passed the ball when he wasn't in the paint because he can't move asik at all. Omer Asik
Jefferson has never been a good player. His raw rebounding and ppg stats are impressive but they don't account for his horrid defensive presence, his inability to draw fouls, and a true shooting percentage that is worse than most 6 foot PG's. Howard on the other hand is a rare talent who completely changes the dimensions of the game on both ends of the floor. No way would any sane man choose Jefferson over Dwight.
I just hope this is what the Rockets get at the end of the Summer. DH will sign with the Lakers and JSmith is what this team really needs. I would rather add JSmith to the current starting lineup and get a true backup C.
Y'all don't want Love cause his TWolves has always sucked but Jefferson was on some horrible Celtics and Wolves teams as well.. didn't make playoffs til he got traded to deep Jazz team
Obviously Howard should be our number 1 target but Jefferson would be great. We can probably get him for a 2 or 3 year contract (makes him tradable later if need be), will leave room in our cap space to shore out our reserves, can play PF as well as solve our back up center situation, and be a great mentor for tjones, TRob and dmo. That last point is crucial; people in Utah praised him for always being supportive of favors.
David West seems like a Morey move. A more than serviceable player averaging 17 points and 8 rebs on 50% shooting at a position of need. He can likely be had at a reasonable contract (10 mil this year) thus saving cap space, and creating another asset to land a bigger whale in the future. Howard is not leaving L.A. especially since it's his team now. Jefferson would be a waste of money. Josh Smith does not make us a contender, and neither does milsap. David West will be as big a factor as those 2 on a cheaper contract.
