If we traded Yao to the Mavs for Finley, as many thought possible in the Summer, would we have a better record? Two years ago, we got the a 45 win season (last year shouldn't count because of the injuries), if you add Finley to the team two years ago, shouldn't we make it to the playoffs then? Just thoughts. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Addition after getting hammered by everyone: OKOK, this thread is not the most intelligent thread I've ever posted!!! However, I am not saying we should trade Yao for Finley. That would be some dumbest thing ever happened to an organization. I am just throwing this in to discuss if we have Finley, would we have a better chance at playoff this year, not for the long run. I lost all credibility with this thread? Sure, why not. This thread is not too smart after all. Anyway, I apologize to those people whose intellects are offended. Have a good day!
That's be r****ded on a scale that's not mentionable on this forum. You don't throw away a decent big center for a guard/forward unless you have a DAMN good reason to do so. Also, finley is like 29 years old already, while that's not old his upside probably won't get that much better. Yao's upside could be enormous and he will produce much more than Finley could offer in the longterm.
With Michael Finely, the Rockets may have a better record now, and maybe a better shot at the playoffs this season. But without a Yao Ming, a center who already has good offensive skills and is reliable at the line, the future outlook would really suck, just like this thread.
good! with yao ming mavericks will win the championship. and nelson will be richer and richer by accessing the chinese market. all mavericks fans will thank you.
jamalccc, Sometimes you just start threads for the sake of starting threads and being heard. IMO, you are just trying to stir the pot and upset everyone. You have lost all credibility.
Its not often that I would be critical of a fellow poster but this thread indicates that you must be wuthout a modicum of basketball intelligence. Why would we trade our best prospect of getting out of this mess we are in( Guard oriented game), for another Guard? The Rockets still have a chance of getting into the playoffs, so no Finley .Please!
Then I would stop coming to this board because I would convinced that the rockets were dumbest org in basketball. Thank god no team in league is this stupid because I love the rocks.
to defend the poor guy, he did say: If we traded Yao to the Mavs for Finley, as many thought possible in the Summer..." I don't remember anyone mentioning this last summer, be it sports journalists or idiot BBS members, but he's not saying he advocates trading them now.
As someone who remembers the threads from the past summer, there were actually some Yao for Finley discussions while Cuban played coy and said that he thought Yao would suck (not in those words). Remember, this was when some idiots thought Yao would be worse than Shawn Bradley. In either case, the thread is even more pointless than those what if we had Drexler, Hakeem and Jordan threads.
If Yao goes to Dallas for Finley, Houston will never be the best team in Texas for quite a looooooong time. And yes, Dallas will be the marquee elite team in the NBA for quite awhile if that happens... jeez... Nash, Nowitzki, Yao... yikes! No way. Dallas will make out like bandits.
