    LAMAR ODOM!

I think Lamar Odom would be a perfect fit for us. Having him run the point forward and have Steve and Cuttino on the wings. Yao in the middle with EG thats a scary lineup to have. and that would be a sort of tall lineup:
    Yao 7'5
    Eddie 6'10
    Lamar 6'10

I say Steve and Cat try to convince Odom that his home is truly as a Houston Rocket!!

It is not Odom's decision but that of his employer. What players and their contracts are you planning on convincing the usually very frugal Donald Sterling that he needs? Sterling is not interested in cap space so he will not make Glen Rice the highest paid Clipper by $3m. And he can get 3 centers for the price of Kelvin Cato.

He will not talk to you unless you put Eddie Griffin on the table. And then he will probably want Cuttino because Cat is cheap.

I like Odom too, but I would not hold my breath for this to occur.

Of course he would. There are a few Lamar fans here, and we've talked about this before. His point forward skills would be a boon for Steve. Problem is, it looks like he's going to stay in LA.

All signs are that LAC will trap him in restricted FA dealings. He will sign a multi-year with LAC or have to take a 1 year and out contract. It's apparently hard to get LAC to go along with a sign-and-trade, even when they face getting nothing - eg. Kandi.

Trade dreamcasts generally use the model of delivering cheap talent locked up a few years to the Clips in return for Odom. Usual suspects are Eddie and Cat and sometimes Cato.

    Anyone know of a poor-man's Lamar Odom that's get-able?

    (Please don't say Quitten. :p)

I like the idea in Principle! On the practical side it would only foster a clique, in as much as the Guards would continue to promote the Guard oriented play, instead of moving the team into the era of the Big Mans Game, and our future! Sterling would expect too much from us, if we had to give up so much, I would prefere Brand.

CD has said he's asked about Odom in the past. It is said LO is Sterling's fav.

Brand, however, is a Falk client. Let Falk deliver the goods (with a healthy foot, please).

I watched Lamar Odom against the Celtics....
    And he wasn't awesome...
    He's tall and fairly skinny...
And he had to guard Antoine Walker...which wasn't very successful or pleasant.
And he can BARELY shoot better than Posey outside...but he still is better than Posey.
    He is pretty good inside.
And he is almost as fast as Posey.

    But the big difference is...money!

It would still be great to have him. But it is still best to get a shooter.

LO is ok, but I think the team would be better served w/o him...

I would agree we need a shooter than LO, but you guys let me know...

With Steve pushing the ball up, and Cat and Odom running the wings...it's over.

    ;)

Recent Odom gave Sterling a big hug, and said "it all starts with this man." Unfortunetely, Sterling didn't know how to take Odom's affection because he didn't know who Odom was.

I used to advocate this a lot, but I've come to a few conclusions:

    1) Steve will most probably move to the 2 this summer, so we will probably get a true PG and we won't need a Point-Forward.

    2) A large potion of the offense will shift to Yao next season, making the PG's job much easier. We will run many/most things through Yao, giving us more flexibility about our type of PG.

    3) The Small Forward in Rudy's offense MUST be a 3-pt shooter for his teams to be succesful. Right now we have no 3-pt shot, and we are playing decent. Can you imagine if Posey could hit 2 threes a game? Odom and Posey just aren't 3-pt shooters.

    4) Lamar Odom, so far in his career, is injury prone, and I wouldn't want to sign him to a big contract and then see him play 60 games a year like Marcus Camby.

    5) Our priorities this summer shoud be getting a PG and a VERY good PF (as good as Brand at least).

The Rockets could go right to the Western Finals with a super-solid core like Ming/Brand/Francis. Brand and Yao have the maturity and savvyy of 12-year veterans, while Steve provides the fireworks, the clutch play, the penetration, etc... He'd get one-on-one coverage all day, and he'd abuse it. We'd also lead the league in blocks/game and would most likeyly be one of the best defensive teams in the league. Sacrifice anyone but Yao and Steve for him.

We have no money to get Odom or Brand.

Why do Clippers want to do trades? Please be realistic, Clippers would rather let FAs go than taking on big contracts. And we have no cap room to compete for FAs.

    Ha.

THAT IS WHAT I ALWAYS SAY.

    Thank you.

    We need a shooter.

    That's it.

And Lamar Odom cannot shoot much better than James Posey...

But he would still be a nice addition for the heck of it.

I have been saying this since before last summer. Odom to Houston is not really out of the question. He is a FA this summer, the only catch is that the Clips can match any offer Odom receives. Considering the fact that Cat and Odom played together at RI and that Steve and Cat wanted Odom over the summer he is obviously friends with them. If Odom makes it clear that he will walk after next season the Clips will have to either a)s&t or b)let him walk. We have a lot of cap space coming off the books with Rice and if we let Posey walk there would have to be something we could offer to him. If Clips want to deal with us then Cato and Nachbar for a signed Odom to replace Kandi and Lamar. The ONLY negative I see is that Odom isn't really a 3 pt shooter, but if we have SF, Cat, and EG on the floor does he need to be? Odom would improve our break and half court O with his handles and vision, Riley compared him to Magic before he had these various injuries (none career threatening).

    Yes. Very positive...

    sounds like Posey story...

    friends with Steve and Cat...

Yes. It would be lovely to have him. BUT that's if Eddie Griffin improves his 3 point shooting along with Mobley and Francis. And if Odom improves his shooting too.....

We desperately need a shooter who has the body of Lamar Odom and defense of James Posey....

And CATO LEAVING?!?!? Who's gonna be Yao's backup? Collier wants to leave.

This is true...and I like to fantasize about how great it would be to get all these different players and unstoppable we would be. Its all great to "wonder" about but fact is we have to stop thinking about who we can get and start thinking about who we would give up. Nobody is free, at least nobody good, and Brand would definitely cost us....who do you think we will deal with when the trade opportunities start to come???
