Well, part of the fun for me in fantasy baseball (or any other fantasy sport) is rooting for the players I love. My experience will be more enhanced by having my favorite player on my team. Also, if this was a pay league, I wouldn't have made the trade.
Well look at it in real life terms. If the Texans traded down to the #7 spot, would you expect an 8th round draft pick in return for the swap... when you have to give up a 6th rounder too? Not realistic at all, in fantasy or real life terms.
well I would have picked earlier but with a page and a half of goofy trade talk I didn't realize it was my turn (maybe we should start a conversation thread). 147. Eli Marrero
Well look at it in real life terms. If the Texans traded down to the #7 spot, would you expect an 8th round draft pick in return for the swap... when you have to give up a 6th rounder too? In real-life football, yeah, because quality has so much value. In fantasy baseball, though, when you have 15 starters, having a bunch of good players is more important than one star, or so it seems to me. Losing 30 spots in the 10-13th rounds to gain 4 in the 1st seemed reasonable at the time. Then again, I always lose my fantasy leagues, so what do I know!
I feel your frustration with the slowdown in the draft, but I don't think I am really all that responsible. The last two picks that I have made since being on vacation have come only 2 hrs and 47 mins and 1 hr and 38 mins after the pick before, which I don't think is all that bad considering the times they were made. I definitely thought I was going to slow things down during my vacation, but in the end, I really haven't. I think almost everyone has slowed down a bit as the rounds have gone on.
To be fair, we've had bad timing all the way around. I don't think its been any one player -- just some really bad luck. Hopefully, things will go more smoothly during the week. Perhaps everyone will be at work and thus on cc.net all day!
Yeah, I know Rockets10, didn't mean to imply that you were the only one doing this. I just knew you were the only one that knew that it'd be hard to get on frequently during the week.
RM, this may have already been brought up, but is there any way you can add another pitcher to the lineups?
On the offchance that someone has four relievers and three starting pitchers who are set to start on the same day (or any other combination of 7 pitchers), we would have to sit a pitcher just because there's not enough room. Plus, that's the way it is in Yahoo. I don't really see what we gain by putting a limit on the number of pitchers per day.
Well, we can put it to a vote, but I vote no. It's going to be hard enough, IMO, to get 6 quality pitchers, especially if you've been drafting this whole time for the current settings. I know my last pick, for one, would've been different if we were starting more pitchers.
I agree. Here's my understanding of our league settings: Starting 9 position players and 6 Pitchers 15 starters and 23 total I assume that the 8 bench players can be either pitcher or position players.
Well, it will all still be regulated by the inning limit. So, if someone's dumb enough to fill up all seven pitchers everday, then they're going to go over the limit anyway. I just don't think it's fair for someone to be forced to sit a pitcher, because we have no control over when pitchers start. But, if people have already been basing their draft around having six pitchers, then forget it.
Not that anyone is asking, but my vote is 'no' as well. The draft has started, and everyone had a chance to make suggestions beforehand. Hopefully, everyone has taken the rules into account prior to making draft decisions - if not, that's their own fault.
