I found this interesting article about some of the stereotypes that are put on white basketball players, and basically most sports in general.

    "White Lies" by Sip Hucklebee

Oh, and it belongs in this forum because we have some white players on our roster, and they have been the target of just such thinking here on this board.

    Dreamer,

Thanks for posting that article. I never played real organized ball; just with talented friends and intramural league teams. But I can play good enough to get picked up at every gym I go to play at.

Every white boy who loves to play basketball and seeks higher grade competition can tell you that you are either the first or last one picked in a pick-up game. Sometimes you don't get picked at all. So to all of those who can relate, don't let it get you down. I'm 26 years old now, in my last year of law school, and still kick lots of nay sayer asses at the parks and gyms here in San Antonio. And I'm still white

So basically don't let people tell you that you can't play. Even if you can't, don't admit it. Just get better and keep trying.

Hey, Brent Berry is my hero too guys. I think it will be between him and Stevie for the dunk championship this year.

Chapman has game, even today. If he could just stay healthy. I used to love watchimg him play, even back at UK.

Great article. I don't understand why we even have to use race when determining how good a player can be, or who they compare to in the NBA. Why is it that I never heard anyone comparing Collier to Sam Perkins, only to Bullard? Or people saying we have enough Bullards on this team (only one, last time I checked). It's sickening.
