He's been saying this all season, saying how he hates the ball getting sticky, I can never understand people who says that McHale loves iso-ball.
I enjoyed when Jay Bilas tore him a new one for intimating that all white NCAA superstars would turn out to be busts in the NBA and that scouts were viewing them negatively as a result. Of course, the player who was the focus of conversation at the time was Adam Morrison, so I guess TheBastard was onto something.
The people on this forum who need to hear those parts the most, will never hear it (unless someone changes the title to "Lin lashes out in interview and gets Mchale fired")
They didn't put the guy into the Hall of Fame just because he's tall and friends with Larry Bird. Also, coach just gave Hasheem Thabeet some bulletin board material if the Rockets end up playing OKC.
Though McHale says he doesn't use the advanced metrics, the way we play offense show we use them. It is Chris Finch who reads the numbers and tries to incorporate them into our offense.
Thabeet is a very smart guy. He managed to scam NBA teams to the tune of over $23M bucks. Now that is one smart mother.
Finch probably does have some influence in what the Rockets do on offense, but McHale actually said that he finds a lot of the numbers very interesting and that he's learned a lot from them. He also mentioned that he liked a lot of the "wide action". As you may have noticed the Rockets quite often initiate the offense with the trailing big setting a wide pin-down for one of the wings. A lot of the other sets/actions also happen to involve a lot of "wide" elements. Again, I'm sure Finch has some input, but we have no evidence that he, not McHale, is to praise, if you will, for the Rockets offense.
