I work in Clear Lake, just a mile or so away from Johnson Space Center and one of my co-workers came back from lunch about twenty minutes ago and said there was a moderate demonstration going on at the entrance to JSC. He said it was a group of caucasians carrying signs that read things like "God hates fags" and "Thank God for 9/11". I checked on some of the local TV websites but didn't see any references to this display. Does anyone know anything about this demonstration? My co-worker said that there were a ton of police around, I can only guess for the absolute protection of these idiots. Jeesh...how appalling. It always seems that for every few steps mankind takes forward, they always end up falling backwards more.

It might have something to do with this organization:

    www.godhatesfags.com/

I tried to check their website to see if they had news of a demonstration but my company blocks access.

    Completely insane people...

Some of the headlines in case you cannot get into the site:

    * Mr. Rogers has moved to a new neighborhood -- HELL!!
    * WBC to picket ***-infested NASA, March 9
    * All nations must immediately outlaw sodomy

The site is the front for the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas.

Apparently, they believe there were homosexuals on the shuttle or, at the very least, working for NASA and that is why it crashed and sent all seven aboard to hell. They refer to them as the cowardly seven.

Also, they believe that sodomy should be outlawed and the penalty for it should be death oh, and Mr. Rogers is a "sissy pied piper" who is also in hell.

They have "memorials" on their site with things like "Matthew Shepherd has been in hell for X days."

    What a bunch of freaks.

morons......that's close enough to work for me to drive by and run over a few of them. It's right by the NASA Hilton though, I'd probably go to jail.

I checked it out, they had a picket scheduled at NASA from 1 to 2 pm. Man, you'd think if these guys were truly doing God's work, they could have a better website. I'm sittin on a T-1 over here and I can barely move from page to page over there.

Well hell, i wanted to see why they think NASA is a target for them and also why they think Mr. Rogers is in Hell now. I'm sure in the time it took me to post this, some other people may have found more out.

    More from the site:

Matthew Shepard has been in hell for 1608 days.
Diane Whipple has been in hell for 771 days.

Deal with it! All else is trivial and unimportant. All the *** caterwauling, candlelight vigils, court orders, etc., can't buy these perverts one drop of water to cool their tongues.

How pleasant. Don't the Southern Baptitst's have some control over their Pastors?

Where in the Bible does it state to judge and hate your neighbors?

    ...sickening...

Not really. The Southern Baptist denomination is congregationalist, meaning that each church operates independently and democratically. They have a central body and a convention, but they publish guidelines, they don't issue orders. It isn't an accident that this church would operate in a congregationalist denomination. In a hierarchical system like the Catholic church or a representative system (like the presbyterians), the minister could be removed by a higher body.

Then there's also www.godhatesflags.com which shouldn't be blocked on any websites. It's a well done site parodying the above mentioned site and shows how ridiculous their arguments are. Examples:

"John Wayne has been in hell for 8670 days! Deal with it! All else is trivial and relatively unimportant! All the flag lover's caterwauling and patriotic idiots pissing and moaning and flag-enablers mild discontent cannot buy John one drop of gin to sooth his tongue. See the WBC Gospel Memorial "

"This week's "hate" speech: "I hate you ****ing flag lovers, flag-enablers, and flaggots engaging in your sinful flaggotry! If you don't start burning flags, I am so going to destroy your villages! So sayeth your LORD." John The Exaggerator 5:35 "

How perfectly r****ded. The Bible says that homosexuality is wrong, but it also says we are to love everyone as we love ourselves, It makes me sad these people profess the same religion I do. To say things like "AIDS is God's way of killing fags" is really stupid and untrue. We are supposed to try and save people's souls, not rejoice that they are in hell.

If you believe in the bible...

And you believe being gay is sinful...

How would that make you treat anybody else different...

The bible teaches that we are ALL sinners...what does it matter if your sin is being gay, or being a liar, or sleeping around on your wife...or JUDGING people. Those all are sins too. They are sinners just like the supposed gay sinners they march against...

That is hypocritical to the Nth degree.

JC taught forgiveness for all sinners, not just specific ones.
