Thats about 5 misses a game. Dwight averages about 17 ppg, if he could make 3 of those 5 misses, he could avg 20 ppg along with 12 rpg. It would also make Lakers offense 4th best in the league. Also, alot of these FTs are in the 4th Q of close games like against Houston when teams are playing Hack-a-Howard. If he had made some of those free throws Lakers record could have been much better.

I would still love to have him on this team but just showing the significance of those FTs.

the type of shots that asik takes, howard would be shooting 75%+

Hack a howard is only a viable strategy for teams that dont rely on a core group, so really none of the decent teams except maybe denver.

It's not the liabilities you can live with but it's the benefits that you're paying for that Howard brings. But because of the back issues I hope they don't pay that price.

If he shoots 55%, then sending Dwight to the line would actually be a GOOD offensive possession. And considering that Dwight is possibly the best defensive player ever, I'll live with a little less than that.

[Rockets Alert] Dwight Howard made more dunks this month than Steve Nash has dunks in his whole career.

i saw this sht from other sites. this is a stupid analysis. one could say its a disguised knock on dwight. reminds me of those random useless stats espn brings up.

dwight has been top 5 in fta for most of his career. he's been avg 8-10 since his 3rd year. he's gonna miss half of them. he's expected to miss 100s of fts every year. SHOCKING? not at all. but when you bring steve nash into the equation is it shocking? definitely yes cuz he defies all logic. no he doesnt, and this thread is stupid.

People scoff at comparing Davis to Dwight, but I think Anthony Davis will eventually develop into an improved version of Dwight Howard with guard-like ball handling and a jump shot.

His stats this season per 36 min is better than what Dwight put up as a rookie:

    Howard: 52% FG 67% FT 13.2 points 11.1 rebounds 1.8 blocks
    Davis: 51% FG 73% FT 16.6 points 10.1 rebounds 2.2 blocks

Height, frame, and wingspan are comparable, and if you recall Dwight wasn't as muscular as he is now when he came into the league. When Davis fills out his frame he will become elite imo.

....Center isn't where we need an upgrade. An upgrade at PF (an All-Star preferably) will yield us more benefit.

Davis has to fill out his frame fast. He already seems injury prone, and if that continues he won't be Dwight.

Dwight managed to stay healthy every year till the back surgery year and the year after.

Howard, like Shaq has taken Orlando to the Finals.
people pay for a guy with that type of talent, despite his horrible free throw shooting.

well.... Howard also AVERAGES 6 more minutes a game than Asik.... probably helps with the 6 points, 1 block and 1 rebound extra. Shouldn't those numbers be more dominant? Its not like Asik is expected to do nearly as much as Howard...

I'm not saying Asik is near the quality of player Howard is, but I do think Howard is one of the most overrated centers this league has ever seen and his attitude and work-ethic have very much been in question for years. I guess it just depends on what you want to spend your money on.

Actually, I didn't realize Nash was quite that bad getting to the line. He's only gotten 4 FT a game one time.
