There's this dude at my work, and when he talks, he sounds like he should be a newscaster or a sports announcer, very similar to the voice of the homeless guy in Cleveland youtube sensation a while back. Who should I try to contact to help this dude, because he has a gift and is wasting it away.
That's kind of presumptuous of you. Who says he even wants to do voice work? And you're also assuming that there is no skill or hard work put into newscasting other than having a specific voice.
Having a voice isn't all it takes. Lot's of people can make good first impressions with memorized phrases they've practiced to perfection, but putting it together on the fly like that can be harder than the pros make it look.
I had a radio guy approach me in Mcdonalds and ask me to come try some things on the air. I think that's weird.
I never said newscasters don't work hard. That being said, if you have talent but not the voice you have no chance. So the voice and having the job are mutually exclusive.
