The con would be the less money he can make in a max offer from us.

not really less money (texas vs california tax rates accommodates the raise differences), just 1 less year. It depends how much Howard values that 1 year.

Is 1 extra year worth more than a genuine chance at a title?

Where they live isnt becoming that big deal, most of our team are living in apartments these days, even those with the money, and spend the off seasons back home (Chandler in Florida, James and Jeremy in California, Donatas will go back to Europe etc)

You could of said the same and replace Hakeem for Dwight. You wouldn't put Hakeem at PF now would you?

As for those who think putting Dwight at PF is a reasonable option. LOL. That would be almost as good as putting Shaq at PF. Wow.

They could package lin with robinson for prospect to a team with cap room like utah. Make the offer to howard, then trade asik for picks and players. Its really not that hard. Also, anyone who is selling asik not being that far behind howard is crazy. This is howards worse year since he's been established and its still a lot better than Asik.

If the Lakers make the playoffs I think we have no chance of landing Howard. If they miss the playoffs I'd say we have a small chance.

If Greg Smith could start at PF without any problems, so can Dwight.

You didn't read my original post where I stated Dwight is not a traditional center, even Shaq and others have criticized him. He doesn't have a back to the basket game like Hakeem, so you can NEVER put Hakeem and Dwight in the same sentence.

Dwight plays a euro-type, pnr game which traditional PF's like to do, like Malone/Duncan/KG. If it doesn't work, Asik's value is sky high, what's there to lose?

Spurs made Duncan/Admiral wok, oh and we've done it before:

I'm fine with Omer. I would rather go for a great PF with our youngsters playing the backup 4 and 5 positions. We should also spring for a better backup 2, who can create offense. Sometimes when Harden and Lin sits, Delfino has to take too much of the offensive burden (necessarily so as noone else generates enough offense save Garcia among our bench players)

    1. Lin/Bev
    2. Harden/ good backup SG
    3. Chandler/ Delfino
    4. Star PF/ TJones/ Motie
    5. Asik/ Smith/ Motie

I think TRob can go. And Garcia will be let go. That right there is a decent team in one or two years time to compete though of course if CP3 DH erc could be gotten you change strategies and give up our current core. Either way, I'm only afraid of OKC in the west and I think we can get with LAC, Memphis, SA, Denver in one or two years. Easy.

I'm waiting for DeAleck to let me know when we're gonna win our championship cuz I think it'll be reasonble within 3 years!!!! Really!!!

    Go Rockets!!

Here's Jarrod Rudolph's latest on the Lakers and Dwight. Remember, Jarrod is very close to Dwight's camp.

Recognizing that Jarrod is mostly a tool for Dwight, you have to give him more consideration right now in light of the fact that Dwight is going to be unrestricted and can truly control his destiny this year.

Yes, I would put Hakeem at PF. Hakeem went for a lot of blocks. If he ever played with someone that could clean up the defensive glass like Asik, the Rockets win more than 2 championships.

Howard and Asik would not work as well. having one in at all times would be more important

My prediction since the start of the season has been that the rox sign howard and try to trade Omer and Lin to the clips for Chris Paul. I know thats reaching a bit but im sure thats there #1 idea. I think we can intice Chris Paul to come here with us possibly signing Howard and not to mention all the young athletic PF's that Paul can lob it to and not to mention wont b**** and moan like Griffin ANd DeAndrea Jordan have been rumored to be doiing.
Omer, Lin,D-Mo, & any or all draftpicks the CLipps want that we have.

    Howard
    Smith/Jones/Robinson
    Parsons/Anderson
Harden/Garcia(or other SG for vet min)
    Paul/Beverly
