Kobe Bryant, Melo, or Kevin Durant. I guess this becomes a multiple question thread. Best scorer, best shooter, clutchest scorer? Who has the best repertoire of putting the ball in the basket? Who's the guy you want shooting iy when you're down 2 with 2 seconds left? Who's the guy you NEVER want to leave open? Thoughts?

Durant is the best scorer. Kobe or Lebron is probably the most clutch. Lebron is the most versatile scorer.

Melo is the most versatile scorer, he can do just about everything on that side of the floor.

Lebron isn't really the best at any particular skill, it's just that he does absolutely everything at an elite level.

It's funny to me that people regard LeBron's scoring ability the same way they used to with Shaq.

durant and its not even close. 50/40/90 scoring 30 pgg, is just too much efficiency.
melo has the most moves and ways of scoring, but he is not really efficient. Same goes for kobe. Both have more ways of scoring than durant or lebron, but they are not as good shooting, or in lebron case going to the rim.
Lebron is crazy efficient, but he isnt as good of a shooter as durant. He is smart as hell, takes good shoots and attack the basket a lot coz of his speed/strenght advantage.

Carmelo's mid-range game is what makes him so special. Like Kobe, he can get his shot off the dribble from just about anywhere, no matter the circumstances. He has a quick release, and he's very strong, which makes him a tough cover with his back to the basket. He's the best pure shooter of the bunch.

KD can score from anywhere, as well. For a 6'10'' 24-year-old wing to be leading a star-laden league in scoring & FT%, shooting 41% from deep, and snagging 8 boards/games is beyond absurd. He's one of the most unique talents this league has ever seen. As a scorer, I'd take him ahead of Carmelo, hands down. He does everything Carmelo does, and more. He's better in nearly every offensive statistical category.

Kobe's just a machine. He's the least accurate 3PT shooter of the three, and has been sub-85% from FT nearly his entire career, but his determination and will are unmatched. He's the guy you want taking the last-second shot, no questions asked.

If I were starting a team, I'd take KD (of the 3 you mentioned; not considering LeBron, of course). If I'm down 2 with 5 seconds on the clock, I'd take Kobe. If I need points in bunches, I'd take Carmelo.

But, to answer your question, KD is the NBA's best scorer. The numbers don't lie.

You'd win more games with it in the hands of durant, melo or lebron, to use your own term, the numbers don't lie (but the media does).

Kobe can easily put up the most shots. You can't make what you don't take.

Lebron. He's underrated as a scorer.

The media really has done a great job making up that Kobe is clutch myth. Look at his clutch numbers in the postseason. They are abysmal. Like 30% shooting or less. Not to mention 40% FG in Finals series.

As for who is the best scorer. Its Durant. Then Lebron. Melo as a scorer is grossly overrated. Poor shot selection and not nearly efficient enough.

Best offensive player(combo of playmaking + scoring) would be Lebron, Durant, CP3 in that order.

Best overall, Lebron by a good margin. No Durant isn't close.

Converts at the rim at the same ridiculous %. Around 75%. Gets hacked a lot with no calls. Pretty similar if you ask me.

Now all Lebron needs to do is shoot 50% from the line.

Durant because he is an elite shooter, Melo isn't far behind him in that regard. Lebron doesn't get the credit he should as a scorer because he is such a great all around player and he also sacrifices some of his own points for the greater good of the team.

Man you guys are missing what makes a great scorer, and that is a complete-- some would call it malicious-- disregard for your teammates, treating them simply as the practice cones needed to get shots up. Do you have any idea the level of narcissicim that is required to put up 40 shots?

Only one man is enough of an egomaniac to rightly be called the greatest scorer in the NBA: Kobe Bean Bryant.

Durant is on pace for his 4th straight scoring title, and he has a TS% over 60% during that span.

    Is this even a question?

I agree. As of now, he has a higher career ppg avg than any of the other players as well.
